Anyone Else Having a Week From Hell?

Mind you, I love my job, and I normally really enjoy going to work. It's just that we're short-handed this week, because one of my co-workers is on vacation. And it just so happens that our clients have all decided to go insane and start ordering rush jobs. Oh, and one set of lunatics insisted that they were NOT going to cancel their hearing in Honolulu, hurricane be damned, and we absolutely had to send them a court reporter. Uhhhh, no. All of our reporters told us to go eff ourselves, they weren't flying into a hurricane. Who can blame them?

So how about you guys? Anyone else have a frantic, hectic, nightmarish week, or did I just draw the short straw?

Somehow my ice maker got shut off and I had to go buy a bag of ice to make my Bulldogs.......The horror!!!

My God, it's like being in a third-world country! What IS the world coming to?!

The easiest part of dealing with the hell walk of today lies in knowing today will end. This week will end, This month will . . . end. The end of all of these front looking, ever evaporating time periods always lead to Friday nights, weekends, vacations and holidays. Monday ends in Friday. Day ends in night. Dawn embraces us in night's retreat with face warming light, and frustration ends in relaxation. Regardless of the flavor of dread, the mundane is always there to lend or minds a hand up with the normal. Myself, in times like those you're experiencing, I find a constant and observe its refusal to ever change.

The job is OK, so far. But it's been raining steadily for the past couple of weeks. Everything is saturated and the mud is a pain. I feel most sorry for my critters, who have to live out in that mess. Oh, yeah, the State Fair started today and it's been raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock! Sucks for lots of people, though.
I loved the state fair at Fairbanks, and the North Pole marathon in the day.
I haven't been to Fairbanks, or the Kenai, fairs. I cannot imagine either being bigger than the Fair in Palmer. I haven't had time for even that fair the past few years. I do know that the two weeks of the fair make my nightly commute to Anchorage hell, though. Lots of drunks leaving the fair, heading home...

You are not alone. Been packing all week and slowly moving little by little over to the new housemates house. I am too damn old for this shit. Lower back, hips, tired and sore and just no strength any more. I hurt all over. Big move day is the 30th. Which I dread.
I do so wish my tired old ass could be there to help you out. Best to you...and Mr. G, too!

Around here, "inclement weather" means that it's blast-furnace hot outside. As in, you can almost hear your skin sizzling when the sun hits it. And God forbid it DOES rain, because the geniuses who run the cities here never want to spend the money on proper drainage, because hey, it's Phoenix and it never rains. So everything is flooded up to the car axles in about five minutes (I wish I was exaggerating, but I'm not).

Meh. I still prefer it to someplace like you have, where it rains for days on end. I'm basically a desert rat at heart.
A desert rat might enjoy it here, or not. My mother lived in northern Nevada and was astounded at how green it was here. I actually referenced Phoenix while talking to a friend earlier. She was observing how parts of the road had washed out. I told her how they actually just made low "ditches" in AZ so that the water from flash floods would flow over the roads rather than wash them out.

Last week sucked................LOL

Big wire pulls...........too few people..........kicked our asses........Hot and Humid......but such is the life of putting in new systems in a Refinery.......

You know .......that evil stuff that makes your cars go down the road............

Another day..........another dollar minus all the taxes they get so other people can sit on their asses on the couch off of it......

I used to be a medical courier in Tucson a while back. I ended every day by picking up a big box full of prescription meds and driving all over the county to deliver them to shut-ins. Most of them lived on the reservation or out near it, with crappy little back roads or even dirt roads as the only access. During monsoon season, a goodly number of them were "you can't get there from here". Finding a way to get around that didn't have half the roads washed out was a nightmare.

Agree. So many things based on fossil fuels, too many fools ignorant of the immensity of such integration into everyday functions.

Never too late to consider horseback...the first and best "4-wheeler", ATV...

My better half is having a week from hell. Her mom rented out the beach home in Baja Mexico some months ago, and the renters totally destroyed it. It's a beautiful cliff side home, too, overlooking the beach and the ocean. She's down there now with her mother getting cleaners in there. I'm going down there in a day or so to start fixing the structural damage.

Can you believe they filled the jacuzzi with dirt and used it for a planter? Took out doors, door frames, all kinds of stuff. Walls destroyed. Furniture destroyed. Lots of bad.

But, yeah. They're having a bad week down there doing the cleanup. Her mom cried about it when she walked in.

How the HELL did I get SO MUCH STUFF???? Just took another load over there. Now its the bare minimum, which is good. Still....two beds, my desk, two tvs, the bathroom stuff and piddly leftover things. When I get settled over there..I am going to get rid of HALF of this shit.
I used to own lots of things. Had a home, full of home thingies. Then homeless and not a lot of stuff. I like not having a lot of stuff!!!! So...back to "if it won't fit in the cars...we don't need it".

No surprise at all...unfortunately. Some people are just total pigs.
