Yes, but you have to understand that Republicans back then were a lot different than the way they are now. That definitely has to be taken under consideration. The Republican Party at that time was a lot more like the Democrat Party. And I said Democrats, not liberal, extreme left, socialists or what ever. There is a difference.

How are republicans now?

Well, if Republicans were like the way Democrats are now, back then... I guess I would have to say complete opposite of how Democrats are now.

Don't go looking to deep into what I said. I wasn't bad mouthing Republicans, just saying that the party has changed over the decades/century.

For the better, right?

Gore Imitates Gore Imitator
From a "Saturday Night Live" sketch that aired Dec. 13, 2003, in which Darrell Hammond played Al Gore and Jeff Richards played Howard Dean:

Hammond: As Paul Krugman has pointed out in the New York Times, George W. Bush is not only the worst president in American history; he is the worst leader of any nation on Earth going back more than 500 years.

Richards: Really? I mean, I'm no fan of President Bush, but what about Hitler?

Hammond: No. 3.

From a June 24, 2004, speech in which Al Gore played Al Gore:

Gore: The [Bush] administration works closely with a network of "rapid response" digital brownshirts who work to pressure reporters and their editors for "undermining support for our troops." Paul Krugman, the New York Times columnist, was one of the first journalists to regularly expose the President's consistent distortions of the facts. Krugman writes, "Let's not overlook the role of intimidation. After 9/11, if you were thinking of saying anything negative of the President . . . you had to expect right-wing pundits and publications to do all they could to ruin your reputation."

Their rhetoric sure has:

Great Orators of the Democratic Party

"One man with courage makes a majority."--Andrew Jackson

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."--Franklin Roosevelt

"The buck stops here."--Harry Truman

"Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country."--John Kennedy

"Many of you are well enough off that . . . the tax cuts may have helped you. We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."--Hillary Clinton
