Antarctica lost 3 trillion tonnes of ice in blink of an eye

This guy goes though periodic cycles called minimums and maximums where the energy reaching Earth changes. It affects Ice Ages through the millennia.
I do believe we are currently headed back towards a minimum. Maybe a resident scientist or astrophysicist can chime in and say whether thats true or not

It would be a real surreal farce if these active volcanoes DID blow and melt significant amounts of NW Antarctica. You'd still have the warmers claiming credit for the disasters.

Antarctica lost 3 trillion tonnes of ice in blink of an eye

"We have long suspected that changes in Earth’s climate will affect the polar ice sheets. Thanks to the satellites our space agencies have launched, we can now track their ice losses and global sea level contribution with confidence,"....

West Antarctica is currently bearing the brunt of this loss, as its glacial ice shelves have been melted from below by warming deep ocean water. According to the study, the rate of loss in that part of the content has increased from 53 billion tonnes per year in the 1990s, up to the current rate of 159 billion tonnes per year. The Antarctic Peninsula - the portion of the continent that reaches out for the southern tip of South America - has seen an increase from an average of 7 billion tonnes per year, up to 33 billion tonnes per year in that same time period.

Of course, this means nothing to idiot global heating deniers.
.

How many windmills should we build to bring it back?
Do they have to produce useful amounts of power?
Or can we save ourselves simply by building them?
What's with all the stupid questions? Do what 4 year olds do, and look up the answers yourself.

Windmills won't save the ice?
I think your on to something here. We need to build windmills in the antarctic....lots of them. The windchill factor from them will have immediate positive impact
on the antarctic ice.

Which is the equivalent of you losing a fingernail. Good grief, the hyperbole you clowns refer to is astonishing.

Actually, it is the equivalent of losing a very short hangnail.....on your little finger.

You are correct s0n!! Because it's not mattering what happens in Antarctica or anywhere else.

Things could change of course, but the watching paint dry strategy of the climate crusaders grabs the interest of nobody. If over the course of a year Antarctica melts completely, maybe then people will pay attention, but not a moment sooner.:113::113:

C'mon s0n.... people don't like to watch paint dry. Why is that so hard for you climate crusaders to comprehend?:dunno:

And let's all face it....has this "deniers" campaign not been the most complete PR failure in the history of the world? The climate crusaders cannot even provide one link showing it to be even marginally successful! Not one fucking link!:cul2::cul2::deal:

Numan,

here is the Abstract of the paper:

"Abstract
The Antarctic Ice Sheet is an important indicator of climate change and driver of sea-level rise. Here we combine satellite observations of its changing volume, flow and gravitational attraction with modelling of its surface mass balance to show that it lost 2,720 ± 1,390 billion tonnes of ice between 1992 and 2017, which corresponds to an increase in mean sea level of 7.6 ± 3.9 millimetres (errors are one standard deviation). Over this period, ocean-driven melting has caused rates of ice loss from West Antarctica to increase from 53 ± 29 billion to 159 ± 26 billion tonnes per year; ice-shelf collapse has increased the rate of ice loss from the Antarctic Peninsula from 7 ± 13 billion to 33 ± 16 billion tonnes per year. We find large variations in and among model estimates of surface mass balance and glacial isostatic adjustment for East Antarctica, with its average rate of mass gain over the period 1992–2017 (5 ± 46 billion tonnes per year) being the least certain."

bolding mine

Notice the bolding, do you understand it?
I understand it quite well, but clearly you do not.

Look at the sentence immediately following your bolding. The point is how many times the loss of ice has increased over the 25 year period.

But Deniers cannot wrap what passes for their minds around even the simplest facts.

Gawad!

You have no idea what you are talking about since what I bolded actually shows that there is a possibility of NO actual ice loss. Don't you understand what Standard Deviation means?

Meanwhile the headline you posted is a lie, it was over a 25 year period.

Meanwhile the PERCENTAGE of the reported ice loss from West Antarctic is MINISCULE, do you know how small it is, Dean?

It appears you have no math skills to brag about.

It appears that you have no math skills to brag about. It is possible that Antarctica has added ten trillion tons of ice. It is possible that there is no ice left at all on the entire continent. But both of those options are exceedingly unlikely - as is the option that you seem to be throwing your faith behind.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Who is stupid enough to write this howler?

"it is possible that there is no ice left at all on the entire continent."

Galaxy class stupidity!

Meanwhile not a single warmist indicate they understand this paragraph:

"Here we combine satellite observations of its changing volume, flow and gravitational attraction with modelling of its surface mass balance to show that it lost 2,720 ± 1,390 billion tonnes of ice between 1992 and 2017, which corresponds to an increase in mean sea level of 7.6 ± 3.9 millimetres (errors are one standard deviation)"

Notice the tepid defense of the highly misleading article Deanrd posted?

They ignored the One Standard deviation part.
They ignored the 0.011% ice loss part over a 25 year period.
They ignored the 100+ Volcanoes in West Antarctica, some that are ACTIVE and shown to be melting some of the ice.
They ignored the fact that over all Antarctica ice mass is growing.
They ignored that sea level increase can't be attributed to Antarctica since it is growing overall.
They ignore the fact that GRACE measurements are not based on solid science.

I have more evidence to post, but warmists seems to have already backed off on this already.

Snicker...

I contend that it is YOU that does not understand this paragraph. Explain to us what you believe the author meant by the term "errors" in the last sentence.

Nope, not going to do the work thinking for you.
