Another small but important victory

Without taking a stand on the issue that started this thread, I will say the scenario is a bit different when choice is not a factor. You can tune out sex on tv because you have other channels. At a graduation, you can not choose to listen to a different song.

I am not going to say whether or not they should have played the song, I just wanted to explain that important difference between sex on tv and a graduation song.

Let's see: You can choose not to go to the graduation. You can bring your iPod and listen to uplifiting rap. You can hum another song. You can sit there and chant to yourself: Christian music is evil and offensive to me, and I'm not listening, la la la. Like this: :lalala:

On the other hand, sex on TV and porn on the Internet, day in and day out, 24/7, is going to be seen, period. Even the most vigilant parent can't prevent it, unless they raise a hermit, because there are always friends' houses where the mom/dad are not so on top of things.

But more importantly, the fact remains that it is hypocritical to expect that only the things you are offended by should be banned.

Ok, I can not keep my opinion in any longer.

I feel the song should be allowed because it is a performance by only two students. It is not necessarily the "school's song", but a song by students who just want to show off their vocal chords. In that case: sing away. It is like showing 'The Last Supper' in art class, you don't have to believe in it, just appreciate the art work.

Christianity really can not be avoided in society either. Whether that is right or wrong...I guess that depends on the person. Those who don't want their kids to see Christianity are disappointed, those who want to keep little bobby away from porn are upset. In the end this society gives neither side what they want...so all are equally upset. The system is fair after all.

I guess if you equate Chritianity with porn it is.

But I do appreciate you giving me your honest opinion!
