My old man turns 62 on sept 4 and is eligible for early SS benefits then. SS lets you apply 3 months before you turn 62 and the fossil did that figuring he'll then get his $900 benefit starting that day sept 4. But no -- SS just told him his $900 will be deposited in his bank account the second wednesday of each month starting in NOVEMBER!!!

So he's being screwed out of $1800. Look for near-bankrupt SS to expand this and in 5 years they'll make you wait 6 months till after you're eligible.

Hey, dispshit. The 62+2 months was part of the Social Security reform passed back in the 90s.

Social Security Changes to Be Felt in 2000 - Los Angeles Times

The changes initially affect people born in 1938, who will turn 62 in 2000 and become eligible for Social Security's early- retirement option.

If those people elect to start collecting Social Security benefits next year, their early-retirement benefit will be slightly less than in the past--20.83% less than if they wait until age 65, rather than the 20% reduction that had applied in the past.

That means the typical person retiring at age 62 in 2000 will receive $721 a month, rather than the old formula's $728.

For those born in 1938 who decide to retire only when they're eligible for full Social Security benefits, the wait will be longer than before: They'll have to be 65 years and 2 months of age.

Obama has nothing to do with what folks draw in social security.
THAN GOD FOR THAT.

If he drove faster he could have gotten his money in sooner

Not so. Obozo has made it very clear by his amnesty for illegals, that laws mean nothing to him. He do whatever he want.
