That basically would have required people to move their cars off the streets. The ones driving Sunday night caused enough problems when they abandoned their cars.

Surely Bloomberg was aware that the city's response could not be what it would have been in previous years which is all the more reason to initiate even more lead time - but apparently its no longer fashionable for leaders to be held accountable for their actions and that includes declaring a snow emergency before the streets are piled deep with snow and littered with abandoned cars.

If Bloomberg wants the "prestige" of being mayor, then he has to accept the responsibility that comes with the job - in municipal affairs the "buck stops" at his desk!
