He was born in East Tupelo, Mississippi, but he's best known for his home, Graceland, in Memphis, Tennessee.
I'll concede, technically he's from Mississippi.
But if someone were to ask me, "where are you from?" I certainly wouldn't tell them where I was born, because I didn't live there long and don't consider that where I come from. I consider "where were you born" and "where are you from" to be two entirely different questions, as they have two entirely different answers for many.
