Students at the Oberlin High School in Oberlin, La., caused an uproar when they spread rumors about a boy who had joked about a square root symbol looking like a gun. A joke quickly became a tall tale that claimed this boy had planned to attack the school with guns and bombs. The Allen Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a call from KPLC, saying they had received an anonymous tip claiming there was going to be a major shooting involving the jokester.

I'm glad Rochester took action, though. Maybe some swift follow through when people start talking shit will curb the trend. It's ridiculous what people say on social media. If so many people didn't talk shit, the FBI and law enforcement might have taken Cruz more seriously. When you've got a whole army of people talking smack, though, people come to ignore it as "just talk."

The fact is, regardless of where she came from or whether or not she's cute, her words were taken seriously and Rochester told her they're not playin'. Good for them. She may not have meant it--looks like there may be some neural disconnects with that one--but no playin' is a good place to start. I don't care if she was a DACA recipient.
