The American people aren't believing the story that Al Qaida has planted 160 nukes around the country, and now that Osama bin Laden is dead (for the 8th or 9th time) now they go back to what usually works on people who are ruled by their emotions: Fear of Guns:
From the NYDailyNews:
Looking down the barrel of terror: More and more, radical Islamists will wreak havoc with handguns
When people think about terrorism, they tend to envision bombs, hostages and hijackings. But the future of terrorism increasingly belongs to the humble gun. From Frankfurt to Mumbai and beyond, terrorists are making the gun their primary weapon of choice.
See, this way they can slander anyone who owns a gun as a terrorist.
Those words are especially concerning in the wake of Osama Bin Laden's death, as law enforcement officials keep a close eye out for potential lone wolf terrorists who might seek revenge. Some weapons were purchased legally, others at gun shows, on the streets or from private dealers. But with the exception of a handful of assassinations and bank robberies, most of these weapons were only used for practice.
Some weapons were smuggled over the US/Mexican border and given to the Narco-Terrorists by the BATF there, but we won't mention that.

And here's the money shot:
The time is long overdue to, at the very least, integrate terrorist watch lists with background checks for gun buyers. It's not a perfect or complete solution, but it is common sense.
You see what they want? To put you on a list and use it as an excuse to take away your 2nd Amendment rights.
As of 2007 there were more than one million people on the so called "terrorist watch list" and that list grows by an average of 20,000 a month! The list at one time included Nelson Mandela, Teddy Kennedy and a Marine Sgt who was on his way home from a deployment to Iraq!

But of course it's "common sense" and who would be against that?

on the link you provided there is a poll. Hit the poll and you will find out about 3 to 1 people do not agree with increased gun restrictions.

John Adams owned a Quran which contained the following in the preface:

This book is a long conference of God, the angels, and Mahomet, which that false prophet very grossly invented; sometimes he introduceth God, who speaketh to him, and teacheth him his law, then an angel, among the prophets, and frequently maketh God to speak in the plural. … Thou wilt wonder that such absurdities have infected the best part of the world, and wilt avouch, that the knowledge of what is contained in this book, will render that law contemptible …

I hate to read stories like the one in the OP. America has fallen so far. Here's another one:

It's all phony bs to make the left feel like they have done something.

Making the right to bear arms more and more restricted hasn't made the country one ounce safer.

It's fallen so far that people think the 2nd was meant for guns and guns only.

The "Right to BEAR ARMS" means all arms, all weapons and not just guns.

Not even. More like another step towards successfully disarming the masses lest they resist what's coming.

Yes, gangbangers need to be able to buy a Davey Crockett at Wal-Mart...

and this is why the republicans were 100% right opposing the democratic effort to ban guns to suspected terrorists. suspected by who? what happened to their typical cries of innocent until proven guilty? they sure do like to mince words to get their way

Guns, God and Gays. Nothing displays the absolute hypocrisy of the new right than these three topics.
WTF are you babbling about? There's noting hypocritical about the right's stance on the 2nd Amendment.
god, guns, gays

Turn the other cheek (jesus), be armed to the teeth the gov't should and leave me along (guns) and ready for the revolution (second amendment remedies), and big nanny state enforcing your own prejudices and telling people whom they may or may not marry (gays)

Yeah. And that would be horseshit, FYI.

So you're saying the Republican base's platform is horse shit?

I'll grant you that.

No, I'm saying your horseshit interpretation of it is horseshit.
