ObamaCare is now being modified to allow for increased premiums for sick children:

The Obama administration, aiming to encourage health insurance companies to offer child-only policies, said Wednesday that they could charge higher premiums for coverage of children with serious medical problems, if state law allowed it.

Earlier this year, major insurers, faced with an unprofitable business, stopped issuing new child-only policies. They said that the Obama administration’s interpretation of the new health care law would allow families to buy such coverage at the last minute, when children became ill and were headed to the hospital.

In September, the administration said that insurers could establish open-enrollment periods — for example, one month a year — during which they would accept all children.

Now, on Wednesday, the administration, answering a question raised by many insurers, said they could charge higher premiums to sick children outside the open-enrollment period, if state laws allowed such underwriting, as many do.

Insurers “can adjust their rates based on health status until 2014, to the extent state law allows,” said Jay Angoff, director of the Office of Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight at the Department of Health and Human Services. ...

As time goes by, it's becoming apparently evident that all ObamaCare has done is to instill an extremely expensive new bureaucratic web at the federal level that will bend the cost curve upward.

They got caught by their CBO scoring game.

In order to make the numbers work, they had to defer most benefits for four years while collecting taxes for ten. As this discrepancy became more visible, they threw a few sops to the public to increase and provide benefits to some.

All this does is drive up the costs for everyone when they are not receiving any benefit.

True on the CBO analysis. The rest of it has been in their plan all along, in my opinion. The objective, to run all insurance companies out of business, and private business out of affording insurance. The free market industry grinds to a halt and we have a new world order and leader. Then we become slaves to their power and control.

What exactly do you think is being waived here? This is a clarification of existing federal law, not an exemption to it.

It created a license to add cost. Now they have a vehicle to attach increases to. All along they will be calling it enhancements to the national healthcare reform bill. Bottom line it's increased costs for you and me.

What happened to Obama's promise that prices wouldn't go up?

They are allowing significant (and economically justified) rate increases of precisely the sort they claimed would not be allowed.

Get read for more.

But that only balances the field for a few years. After that they will have to generate new revenue to cover the costs. Increased taxes, greater debt are the resources they will have at hand. This thing, even with front loading revenue still can't be afforded.

They are counting on having cashed out prior to the Ponzi Scheme coming undone. That's the way it is with these types of programs - the pain is always passed along to future generations to handle. Where the Obamanoids made a fatal error in their calculus is that the economy is so fragile, there is not enough growth to conceal the scam, hence it is being outed very quickly.

Same happened with the stimulus package. Most of the money was diverted to liberal pork projects. They figured they would use just enough to give the appearance of giving the economy a slight boost so it would look like they were the ones responsible for turning things around. All along they knew the rich would be bargain hunting and scooping up deals. Undervalued stocks, properties and materials. This is where the real measurable boost to the economy came from. The rich got richer. The rest of the poor slobs are still hurting. They see no stimulus.

But team Obama's economic advisors underestimated. They thought the alloted stimulus money would carry the jobs they were funding through the midterm elections. It fell short. Infact They had to grant another $28 million to keep teachers, firefighters, police employed through November and prevent unemployment numbers from surging right before the election. Their house of cards is crumbling around them.

A great deal of the stimlus went to state and local government to forestall much needed lay-offs and pension benefit reductions in order to get their finances under control.

We are incurring billions of debt for short term spending, which will take years (actually decades) to pay off.

So basically, we are fucked.

Only if we continue along this same path.

If, however, we change course and REDUCE spending, reform entitlements, downsize the scope of government, get rid of public employee unions and move such employees to defined contribution plans, get rid of ObamaCare, privatize Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac...for starters...we can fix our country.

So in other words, vote out the democrats.

They claimed that community rating rules would go into effect this year? When?

Gotta be those "Unintended Consequences" we've heard so much about.

Kinda like all waivers being handed out so Companies don't drop HC period.

Now wouldn't that throw a monkey wrench in the works??
