We've all been watching airplanes leave contrails all our lives. We know the difference between an airplane and a missile.

That was a missile.

If it was an airplane going overhead it would have gotten bigger as it came closer. That missile got smaller as it went up and probably into space, therefore it couldn't possibly be an airplane.

I guess some people refuse to believe their own eyes.

This one is, too. It's flying horizontally overhead, not vertically. It's not accelerating as a missile under boost would; it's travelling at a constant speed.
