An arrested hit man with the Mexican drug smuggling gang, Los Zetas, tells Mexican authorities that his gang murdered a long-missing reporter and dissolved his body in acid.
The reporter, Rodolfo Rincon, 54, of the Tabasco Hoy newspaper in the Gulf coastal state of Tabasco, was last seen Jan. 20, 2007, after he reported on local drug dealers.
On Sunday, a spokesman for the Tabasco state prosecutors office told reporters that an arrested hit man told them about murdering Rincon.
This is the latest murder in a country that has become one of the most dangerous in the world for reporters. Watchdog groups estimate at least 60 reporters have been killed since 2000.
