Another iconic business goes out of business

I'm failing to see what your complaint is here.

This is an act of "Creative Destruction" as Romney called it.

The owner of that building feels that he can get a bigger rent payment from a new tenant, so either the Deli pays up, or they go out of business.

Given how you guys on the right worship greed as the greatest of all virtues, I'm just not seeing what your problem here is. Wasn't a government program that put them out, it was the greed of another capitalist.

Yea the costs of Obamacare and the poor economy had nothing to do with this. And Romney has nothing to do with this stuff. Own it brah.

Well, it seems to me if the owner is making more money on his property, that's a good thing.

You conservatives are the ones who always bitch about NYC's rent control laws as an interference in "Freedom".

Ah, Joe? I'm pretty sure NYC's rent control laws don't apply to commercial space. Just saying...

i know you're not very bright, but do you need to prove it constantly?

besides their food was horrible and most of those types of delis, except for the very best, have closed...

Another point lost on him. The market has changed. Why go to the Deli when you can buy the same thing at a Supermarket and get about 20 other things done at the same time.

Ah yes...the "corner supermarket"! There so many of those in New York City! (eye roll)

BTW, Romney lost. You might want to change your avatar.

Everything is intertwined economically. Obama owns this mess, all of it.

I'm shocked that the libs won't own up to it, SHOCKED I tell ya!

Well, you're an idiot; so....yeah.

I haven't seen a right wing whack job get his ass handed to him this fast in at least........... a day.

Piss poor defense of your thread great gat. AT least have something intelligent (wtf am I thinking) or at least make up shit (as usual) to present your position in a little better manner.

What is it that Obama has done that makes you mad today? I bet it's just terrible. Bad man Obama, bad man.

I'm sure they don't. But just saying, if conservatives were that concerned about the Stage Deli, they'd support that kind of thing.

Of course, they are just looking for something else to blame on Obama, because, honestly, that's all they'll have to keep themselves warm for the next 4 years.

This is trickle up poverty. The landlord has to raise rents, the deli is maxed out and can't maintain a customer base if he raises prices to accommodate the new rent. The deli goes out of business. It would be the same result if it wasn't the rent being raised, it might be something else. It might be something like unionized workers having to be paid $15.00 an hour.

With what things cost in NYC, 15/hr is poverty wages.

Yep. It would be hard enough to survive on 15/hr outside of Manhattan, let alone in the city.

Yeah, we all know how strong the deli-workers union is.
