The city just got their asses sued for shooting a black man who did stop. It`s hard to blame this kid for running. If he had known that this was this idiot cop`s first day on the job he might have run faster.

No excuse for running from the police ever -- if this kid had parents who loved him -- he would have been taught that -- he didn't, so he is dead.

There’s another tangent. American blacks would dwell on their DNA slavery legacy but overlook their DNA connection to the Africans who sold those slaves. They’d owe reparations!

they stopped the car, they went to the window and spoke with the driver and viewed the front and the back with their flashlight, saw no evidence that the back window was shot at just 10 minutes earlier....

But they did see bullet-holes, which is sufficient cause for suspicion -- especially under the immediate circumstances, which was a recent drive-by shooting. I think you'll agree that bullet-holes in a car window is cause for suspicion even under the most ordinary circumstances. Your "shards of glass" theory is a flimsy hypothesis.

If the car and its passengers even vaguely fit the description of the drive-by shooters it would be more than adequate cause to investigate further, which the cops were doing.

THAT right there... gave them reason to believe that this car was NOT the car involved in the driveby, or in the least, reasonable doubt that these kids were NOT involved....

Nothing gave the cops reason to believe for certain that car was not involved in the drive-by. There was some cause (mentioned above) to suspect and to investigate further, which is what the cops were doing. You can't dismiss that only because you wish to.

Which, under that level of suspicion and circumstances, was in full accordance with procedure.

IF the officers were in fear of the two boys, they would not have left in the car alone... these 2 boys who had access to the gun used in the drive by shooting.

At that stage of their investigation the cops had no cause to fear any of those young men. But they had good cause to be cautious and adhere to procedure, which they did.

sorry, I don't buy the scared shitless cops theory... all afraid that the 2 unarmed boys running away were armed and going to kill or shoot others....

No one (but you) suggested the cops were "scared shitless." What the cops had at that stage of their investigation was three young Black men in a car with bullet-holes in a window and which fit the description of a car used in a drive-by shooting. Would you say there was no cause for suspicion in that scenario?

When the suspect took off running the cops' suspicions were affirmed. The pursuing cop had adequate cause to believe he was chasing a shooter who probably was armed and represented an immediate lethal threat to him and a potential threat to the public if he was not captured. Whether you like it or not, those circumstances legally justify the use of deadly force.

We are not talking about innocent young "chillun" coming home from a basketball game. Rather some young Black men riding in a car with bullet-holes in a window, handguns in their possession, and some as-yet unspecified reason to run from police. Your tendency to wiggle past or to simply ignore such critically important factors is not uncommon. Rather it is manifest in each and every example of police confrontations with Blacks.

The simple fact in this example is the young man who was shot by a pursuing cop brought it on himself by running. The cop had adequate cause to believe the fleeing suspect was armed and probably would shoot him to avoid being captured.
