Another executive order from Obama ..

I fucking HATE defending any decision made by President Obama.

I enjoy (heartily) pissing on his dorky efforts.

But still, there has to be some place for objectivity.

If the President DIDN'T make a move to secure our infrastructure in the way he did via that EO, wouldn't we be justified in criticizing him for his failure to attend to the nitty gritty?

We can't have it both ways, either.

There's PLENTY of material to use to validly criticize President Obama. We should stick with that.

The only thing I have to say it the NDAA 2012 was not suppose to affect American citizens but it does, and as long as the president can deem anything an emergency the government has control over everything and that includes the private sector.

I will grant you if you like that the threat of declaring an emergency grants the president a very very small but nonzero level of control over the private sector. However, the president's non-emergency powers (eg, control over agencies with regulatory authority) are far more significant.

Do you trust the government with that much power?

How much power? Regulatory power? The power it would have in an emergency? The power to declare an emergency? All government power?

In any case, the short answer would be that I trust the government with its powers to a certain degree. Power can be used to help or to harm, and if we overestimate the likelihood that it will be used for the latter we forgo the benefit of the former.

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Nice quote with ZERO applicability.

Nobody is giving up any liberty at all, much less essential liberties.

And it's not safety which is at issue. It's infrastructure.

So, since the EO does not do that, you must agree that nobody is giving up any liberty.

Yep like the communist do got it.

Tyrants don't stop at 80% control they go for 100% but a smart tyrant would do something extreme but not go all the way on the first attempt then take a little more at each next attempt, until there's nothing else to take.

Your post makes no sense. But it is clear that you misunderstood what you quoted.

Friends from the north

Under this order the heads of these cabinet level positions; Agriculture, Energy, Health and Human Services, Transportation, Defense and Commerce can take food, livestock, fertilizer, farm equipment, all forms of energy, water resources, all forms of civil transporation (meaning any vehicles, boats, planes), and any other materials, including construction materials from wherever they are available. This is probably why the government has been visiting farms with GPS devices, so they know exactly where to go when they turn this one on.

The soviet block countries would recruit "activate" civilians to work in factories either that or the salt mines.

"Recruitment" has an actual meaning. Your analogy to the word-play of a dishonest communist regime is therefore not controlling nor persuasive.

If I am a college recruiter and I recruit some high school star athlete to play at the university for whom I work, that does not mean that the kid has been drafted, put into involuntary servitude or enslaved.

If you happen to have some crazy mad skillz which the Administration believes would serve the Republic in a time of upheaval, the Admin can recruit you in advance to join the program (akin to working as a military reservist) subject to then being activated if the upheaval ever comes to pass.

Yes "Recruitment" has meaning just depends on what part of the world you live in and what it means. And if you refuse they have them means to make you submit. "the salt mines"
