Another example of how liberals lie and manipulate you

Not going to mention the school district, because I'm not giving out personal info on my kid's school district.

But here's the deal. Last time my kid's school district put a levy on the ballot, voters said no. They were tired of voting yes to levies only to have the school sytem not put it toward education, but gym floors, new tile, and the like.

So, in 2011, the voters said no to a new levy.

So, my kid's school district came back this year and said, "if we don't get this levy passed we will have to cut the sports programs or really raise the price to participate."

Well, people just FREAKED! Oh, we can't lose the sports programs, what about the kids! :eusa_boohoo:

Naturally, the levy passed.

ONE WEEK after the levy passed, my kid's school just made an annoucement concerning the sports program, (just heard it on the radio not 15 minutes ago). They are RAISING THE PRICE to participate in the sports programs like football, ANYWAY.

They are raising the price for high school sports participation from $100 to $240! And the price for Middle School sports participation from $50 to $150!

Now, I don't care, because my kid isn't in sports, but THIS IS A SPIT IN THE EYE to every parent who voted yes on the levy to save sports. Double and TRIPLE the price to participate in this economy and AFTER we voted to raise property taxes???

This should be a lesson and a clarion call to NEVER trust this school district again. I will vote NO on every levy from now on.

This is so brazen, and so arrogant I hope there are a lot of parents who throw a fit about this.

Unbelievable! And it should be a lesson. Liberals will LIE and try to manipulate and scare you to get you to vote a tax hike, AND THEN THEY WILL SCREW YOU, ANYWAY. NEVER TRUST THEM.

(and that's why I'm glad I voted no on this levy, I wish there had been more voters who had done the same. Once again, I've been proven right, but it's little comfort)

Ok slick... here's the deal. This is the EXACT flaw in Conservative "small government" thinking....

Taxpayers demand that the Feds get out of their business AND bitch and moan about the debt.... the Fed cuts funding to states to appease the taxpayer. The states(with limited budgets themselves) have a choice....they can either raise taxes, or cut programs...Raising taxes causes the taxpayers to bitch...cutting programs also causes taxpayers to bitch...but is politically safer among Conservatives.

So...the State(governor Corbett in my state) decided to make massive cuts to the k-12 program AND cut in half state funding to our State universities..... Guess what?

This passes the buck onto the LOCALITIES... which, because of a generally lower population and by default.. taxbase... have one of two choices.... Raise local taxes, or Cut Programs... because of the smaller population to draw from... both choices, once you get to the local level are extreme... your taxes go way up, or your services go way down.

But hey.... you got your "smaller" government, didn't you?

So what about this: "Pat Tiberi has been my Congressman for YEARS" are you blaming your congressperson again?

Why do you hate most of the people of "Ohio (my home state)"?

Let the people vote. Educate the children as it is they who will be paying your retirement and health care. They will also most likely be wiping your tired old white ass when the day comes for you to suck off medicare in a nursing home.

life is like that

Good point. Extracurricular activities are just that.....extracurricular. If parents want their kids to participate in school sports they should pay 100% of the cost.

I don't know about 100%, but they should have considerable skin in the game. Cleats, Jerseys with individual names on, pants, jockstraps, etc.... But the school should provide the re-usables.... pads, helmets, generic jerseys...etc.

as well as the kids that want to be part of the school newspaper?
Chess club?
Science fair?
Debate team?
Band?

Or are you just saying "sports"?

it is not just a hobby at schoolage.
It is more often than not a valuable learning experience...

You know...sort of what schools are for?

Strangely, all civilizations that drift and embrace ultra liberal socialism fade into oblivion in one generation of:

Out of control taxes
Out of control spending
Out of control laws and rules
Out of control Adventurism (WTF are we doing in Afghanistan???)
Out of control debt. e.g.---$15,000,000,000,000 worth........

We are embraced in all 5 ad infinitum and it is worsening expotentially and little is being done about it by the Big Herd.

It is a endorsement of doom unless it is stopped and reversed immediately.

Just some facts of matter, from a contract archaeologist.

Sure. As long as they take it before the voters.

Everything you listed is a good learning tool, part of education and doesn't cost much (except band instruments). And parents should foot the cost of instruments.

I agree. We've subjugated math and science to football and basketball in our public school systems and now we're paying the price. Tech jobs are open and wanting but hey...your kid can really dribble. BFD.

No evidence liberals have ANYTHING to do with it. ANOTHER BS loudmouth dittohead crappe OP. WTH morons?

90 % of what's wrong with education here is not schools- it's the society around them... Crappe jobs, health care, drug war etc. Pubcrappe! See Sig pp1...

Plan would more than double pay-to-participate fees | ThisWeek Community Newspapers

The proposal came out of a committee formed after the failure of the district’s November levy bid to look at alternative funding for extracurricular activities.

The goal of that committee was to decrease the impact of extracurricular athletics on the district’s general fund by 50 percent, or by about $889,000.

No, we've subjugated Math History and Science to Multiculturalism, Black History Month and Heather has 2 mommies. That shit is worthless in the real world. Team sports build character and leadership.

My school district when I was growing up pulled that line everytime it looked like a budget may not pass.....this was in the 60s and 70s. You know...Nixon years.
