Freshmen asked to research porn online

BROOKLYN -- Freshmen at Brooklyn High School were given an unorthodox homework assignment. They were told to do research about porn.
The students were asked to research porn on the internet and list eight facts about the porn industry.

They were also told to write down their own personal views about pornography and any experience they may have had, good or bad.
Doesn't this sound like the teacher might be 'getting off' on 14-15 year olds 'experiences'?
Three parents called the district to complain so the principal, superintendent and health teacher decided it was best to scrap the assignment.
I wonder how many kids are in the class? You have to wonder where the rest are...
"You know what, the age appropriateness of the assignment was not the best choice, so we pulled the plug," Brooklyn Schools Superintendent Jeff Lampert "Folks were right, we need to re-visit this, so we pulled the assignment."

The superintendent says the teacher simply made a bad decision and the district reacted as quickly as possible.

So far, there has been no decision to discipline the teacher.

Good Lord! I would be making a much bigger stink about that one!

There was a time in US history when teachers had to meet morality requirements to get/keep their jobs.

Only three called to complain? How sad.
That's what I was trying to figure out. I wonder if the teacher told the kids not to bring the assignment up? I know my kids would have come home, especially the boys, all excited that they had a reason to get online to trash, that I would normally have blocked.

I know if they did, I wouldn't have unblocked, I would though be on the phone the next day.

You know what else, Superintendent? If I were one of the parents involved, I’d be demanding the firing of EVERYONE who had anything to do with the approval or knowledge of this assignment, and I wouldn’t stop until it was done.
Sadly, this shows the true weakness of our public education system, that being the Parents.

Think about it, folks. One teacher and (conservatively) a minimum of 30 parents, and only 3 complained!
Where are the other 27?
This is why no amount of money will fix the system, ever. IMO
