Ann Romney: Mormon missions and U.S. military are ‘different ways of serving’

Funny you should mention that. Part of the reason I HAVE A LIFE is that some REAL Americans were willing to put their own on the line.

You're here sticking up for the romney's, for Queen Ann and her useless children and husband.

How many lives have they saved? How much of their own life have they given for their country. In fact, its either one or two of the stepford sons who have followed in daddy's footsteps, buying out companies, borrowing against them until they collapse, "harvesting" them and firing the workers. Betcha Queen Ann is just fucking proud of that and bet you think its way cool too.

What is sick is that you never miss a chance to say something nasty about our vets, about how they're useless and don't earn their keep.

shut the fuck up, I work for the vets asshole..STOP USING THEM for your all's sick agenda against this family..

Liar.

If you "work for vets" you would not be nearly so ignorant about vets. Nor would you be so full of hate for them for what they face - every single day.

You are flat out lying.

You are the LIAR

My son is in Special Forces....he's also a strong Christian and has been on some missionary trips. In fact, the men of the church he belongs to at the base all went together on one before! Hey, how about that.........our military also do missionary work! Huh! Whoda thunk that?

My family is full of Vets.....many of them went on to missionary work.

Stop speaking for the military, you sound like a fool!

i do not want to see a mormon elected as president...i do not want to see religious service equated with military service....

20 bucks says you voted for Obama and Clinton if you were old enough to vote. Not voting for someone because of their religion clearly makes you a bigot and nobody has said religious and military service are equal.

"The Mormon Church has donated more than $1 billion in cash and material assistance to 167 different countries in need of humanitarian aid since it started keeping track in 1985. Many of these countries have few to no Mormons, but are also non-Christian. More than 53,000 Mormon missionaries serve through the world today. All of their service is to help those who are not Mormon. Joseph Smith himself taught that we are "to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all."

What horrible people to believe such a thing!

Missionaries aren't there to CONVERT people. But many times people will convert on their own once they experience the love of God through the Missionaries that helped them. Nobody can be FORCED to convert to anything.....

please don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.

the purpose of missionary work is to convert people.

The purpose of missionary work is to aid people body and soul.

I think it's probably time for your weekly sponge bath, del. Please don't skip this week.

yeah. Missionary work is designed to bring people to Christ. To make bad men good, and good men better.

How is helping people better themselves by bringing them to Christ bad for society?

Of course they WANT to convert people when they go....but that's not the MAIN purpose!
They are there to help others. If those people see the love of God through these people, and decide to put their trust in God, that's a bonus! But, because you don't believe in God, you would never understand this.......

Ann Romney making excuses for her sons not serving in the military.

Ann Romney: Mormon missions and U.S. military are ‘different ways of serving’

The candidate’s wife explained that Mormon missions were like military service in that “you’re going outside of yourself, you’re working and you’re helping others. And it changes you. And are we so grateful in this country for those people — men and women — that are volunteering, they’re sacrificing their life for us, and we cannot forget that or we have to acknowledge that always.”

“So, when you’re facing these mothers whose children have not come back, how will you explain to them that your sons haven’t gone?” Goldberg pressed. “Will you talk about the missions they’ve gone on?”

What a joke! Morman missionaries aren't serving their countries. They are serving and promoting their religion. There is no problem with that but there is also NO COMPARISON whatsoever to serving in the military.

And some people really do want this family in the WH? So privileged and totally out of touch? There is also nothing wrong with that except that they should not attempt to lead this country or tell the "peons" what they should do, etc.

( emphasis added)

Obama and Biden never served but the can tell the 'peons' what to do?

That is different. Obama and Biden are liberals therefore they must by liberal definitions know what is best for us peons.

you have no idea what i believe or don't believe, you pompous twat.

thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Kind of similar to "We won't tolerate acts of terror" = "The attack in Libya was an act of terror".

how does trying to convert people to mormonism serve our country?

Good question. Does it do anything to reduce our debt, does it provide jobs? Does it do anything to promote a positive perception of America?

As far as I can tell, it does nothing for the country. All it does is help their religion expand.

Man oh man, If the Obama's were missionaries we wouldn't ever hear all this petty bull from you people

No, because if the Obamas were missionaries and tried to compare their service to their church with the 20 years of service that I have personally given to this country via the U.S. Navy, I'd say they were full of shit as well.

Missionary service does not directly benefit this country, it directly benefits the church.

Military service directly benefits this country and ALL the people who live here, not just 1 church.

Yeah, tell that to people who have had missionaries build wells in their villages, who are providing teachers and medical care for their children, who are being fed by missionaries.

Actually, how does that directly benefit this country?

I served in the U.S. Navy from 1982 until 2002, so I'm pretty well aware what the military does directly for this country.

Tell people who are escorted across hostile borders in war time by missionaries that missionaries help only their church.
