As for freedom, it's a fucking joke. Take the "freedom" coal companies have to plow off the tops of mountains to get at coal instead of hiring miners. Or the "freedom" oil companies have to do fracking. Most people are greedy and selfish. The "freedom" you speak of is the freedom to do whatever in the hell you want to. No matter what the cost. Taking care of people wouldn't be a pretense. Either they would be doing so or they wouldn't be. Also, Thomas Jefferson also basically said that from time to time, the tree of liberty would need to be watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

First, even IF governments formed a monopoly, it is better for the government to be doing the monopoly rather than a private company. Because part of the governments business is to look out for the well being of the populace. As for private companies, they couldn't give a shit. All that matters to them is making money. Though it was a little overly long, I would recommend that you watch the documentary, "The Corporation." One of the things you would find out is that corporations are psychotic and sociopathic entities. You would have to be braindead to think that having psychopaths and sociopaths running things is a good thing.

As for the founding fathers being genius', they were far from that. They didn't even give citizens the right to decide who got elected president. As for the U.S. being the greatest country, you have to be high. For their size, the economies of both Germany and Japan kicks our ass in terms of the yearly value of our exports. They also have universal health care. Do we? The only thing that makes our country great is that it is a large country that is rich with natural resources and arable land. Apart from that, we are basically a third world country.
