An Obama / Chavez Smackdown?

ah I see so it is "really nothing new" so it is ok that Obama is ignoring it.

sigh.

Would you have our President intercede in every private business dealing that didn't turn out "fair" to one party or another?

No just in the ones where a National Government is committing a Massive Blatant Robbery of the property of US companies and US citizens.

WTF do you liberals think the Presidents Job is, if it is not to protect the interests of American Companies and People in situations like this.

I feel like I am living in LaLa Land.

Don't expect this president, Mr. Obama, to do anything. He already is giving part of Arizona away to the Mexican drug lords by his constant whining about their Gov. trying to enforce the already in place immigration laws. A few on this board will follow this total incompetent president all the way into the toilet. All I can figure is they have some stake in this administration's pork in some manner, there IS a reason SOME still follow this lame duck. I am not sure I even know WHO this president is working for anymore.

Obama fanatics, and here comes the 'your the fanatic responses', cannot be reasoned with so I wouldn't even waste my time, after these next elections from the way things are going they will ALL be tossed out on their collective lame asses and we'll get someone in there, hopefully, with guts enough to stand up for America's interests, it's land, such as the invasion of Arizona by Mexican drug gangs.

This incompetent,in my opinion, sends troops overseas to fight for others while our own country is being taken from us at it's borders, I am hard put to support an incompetent administration and will never do it.

At the moment this IS LA LA LAND.

So a totalitarian regime confiscating the private property of an American business is just a "private business deal"? You libs are so fucking helpless. I hope the next time Sean Penn or Daniel Glover go down there to blow kisses to Chavez's prostate they are confiscated in the name of nationalizing the media/entertainment industry.

Fuckin-A!!
That makes 4 and 5 times, in the past week, I've been labeled a Liberal.

You anti-Obama types have such a hard-on for the guy that, if he wipes his ass and uses 4 squares instead of 3, you accuse him of being wasteful in these financially trying times.

You call yourself a Republican (remember that "smaller government" thingy?) but you want Obama to stick his nose in everything for you.

This company was stupid enough to set up shop in Chavez's waters and agree to continue production at his whim.
SURPRISE!!! Chavez isn't paying Americans their money.
So they stop production. Something they knew that Chavez didn't want them doing.
They left their rigs, abandoned, to a totalitarian socialist and are now shocked that he seized their property.
:cuckoo:
Obammy!!! Please help us??!!!!!

Go cry to somebody that gives a shit.
Bam-Bam couldn't care less how many assets are surrendered to his buddy, Hugo.

Bullshit has no party affiliation. :eusa_shhh:

Just to note.. Chavez wasn't in charge when this company "set up shop". They'd been operating in Venezuela for over 50 years.

Are you defending the seizure of private property through the force of government?

No. But I could find nothing that says the Bush Administration got involved in the similar situation involving Exxon Mobil in 2007 when the Chavez administration took control of their assets in the Orinoco River belt, as part of a nationalization campaign that began early that year. Exxon sued for several billion. Chavez has a very short memory, or as usual he's all bluster.

The Bush administration must have said something because Chavez was claiming that the U.S. government was responsible for the "economic war" against Venezuela and that he'd retaliate by not selling oil to the U.S.

So they chose to stay in territorial waters of a country going through a revolution, then???

Forgive me if I just don't "feel their pain".

What revolution would that be? Chavez was democratically elected. It wasn't until after his election that he slowly started seizing state institutions and then private institutions. Do you think he would have allowed that oil company to pack up their rigs and take them away?

So you believe everything Chavez sez?
