My view on the ideal immigration law: Our quota is definitely too small. We should raise it.

The law as it stands keeps out some we should let in, allows in some we should keep out.

I would propose that 10,000 visas are available per week. Visas are granted by competitive examination in math and physics using story problems in english. There should be additional questions on US history and the constitution. The math problems should not be multiple guess either. 400 questions on the exam. One member of the family takes the test, but the family member brings in the spouse and children and parents (if they so choose) in with them. But everyone in the family counts toward the total number of visas awarded that week.

On the flip side of that, the I9 nucience should be expanded from just employment to also house rentals and sales and any loan based on a US source of income must have an I9 form demonstrating that the borrower/renter is here legally. Any willful violation means a $25,000 fine plus a year jail time.

Any illegal who commits any offense upon conviction gets 3 years additional in a special prison in northern Alaska. Then deported.

There should be an additional 300 humanitarian visas permitted per week for such things are adoptions of under 10s and other reasons of that sort.

I feel we should let in everyone we can who will be a positive, and keep out everyone who will not contribute.

All kinda of probs with your proposals, first you want ten thousand admited per wk plus family members. Thats gonna be around three mill a year before you add your mercy visas which admitedly is a small number as long as your not allowing family members also.
On top of that you want educated immigrants who will be vying for american jobs in the upper income levels....no way Jose!!!! You think americans are pissed now?
And you also have to account for the two and a half mill uneducated family members who would take the jobs the illegals are taking now. So really your plan is worse then the illegal prob we now have.
We should'nt allow any immigrants except for the positions we may be lacking in.......say construction or agri bussiness. The idea we should provide immigrants with top paying jobs is ludicris. Those should be for out of work Americans not immigrants.
The idea that we owe Mexico a damn thing as far as jobs go is crazy.
It would be one thing if they came here on student visas and returned to Mexico upon graduation to better ther own country but we all know thats not gonna happen with the bussiness enviroment in Mexico.
I say screw em ...get in line dont call us we'll call you.

why should we let anyone in if we do not have enough jobs for the ones we already have here?

A need to further drive down wages?
Ahh yes, we need to be more competitive in the global market place.

The bottom paying jobs can be provided for by the quality of our schools. Srsly. We need highly educated people. We aren't producing enough of our own.

One family member takes the test, but all family members count for the visa pool. So if mom takes the test and qualifies the family of 6, that is six visas out of the pool of 10,000 for that week

We are already paying for illegal immigrants' childrens' education. Thanks to a Supreme Court decision back in 1982, we are required to provide a k-12 education for ALL illegal immigrants' children. You wanna know what the Supreme Court Justices' rationale was, Baruch? They rationalized that we would be creating a permanent underclass if we refused to educate them. So they were basically saying, "HEY STATES, THESE KIDS ARE A PERMANENT FIXTURE IN OUR COUNTRY! YOU GET THAT? AND IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH YOU HAVE TO PAY TO EDUCATE THEM, YOU'RE DOING IT! WE FEDS OWN YOU!" And that was back in '82, billions of dollars ago.

PRESENT DAY:
Aid to K-12 public schools for the education of the children of illegal aliens is $1.4 billion annually, not including the cost of free school lunches.

The total cost to state and local taxpayers for educating 3.5 million children of illegal aliens is estimated at $28.6 billion, according to a Federation for American Immigration Reform study.

FORCING OUR SCHOOLS TO TAKE IN MILLIONS OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS' CHILDREN DILUTES THE EDUCATION OUR OWN KIDS COULD BE GETTING. WHEN OUR OWN KIDS HAVE TO TAKE A BACK SEAT TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS' KIDS' EDUCATION, IT SHOULD COME AS NO SURPRISE THAT WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH HIGHLY EDUCATED PEOPLE IN TODAY'S ECONOMY.

Hey sum dum chick maybe you've been to busy watching Asian cartoons and are not aware that we have a little problem with unemployment. AMERICAN BORN residents are having trouble finding jobs why the hell should we allow that many people in this country every week? This is the time to close our borders an stop issuing visas until this country is back on it's feet. America doesn't need people from any country, we have plenty of people to get it done.

GREAT POST HEREWEGOAGAIN, this flaming retard says we need higher educated people in this country. Well if our teachers could spend more time teaching the curriculum and less time spent teaching basic english our kids might have a better chance at a higher education.

So we do not need the Tea Party?

That post sounds a bit elitist to me.
All we need are the smartest people?

btw it is not all the education systems fault, many people are just not as smart. Eugenics?

On plus though your way would do away with extreme right wingers, Beck, Limbaugh, etc.

So what your saying is....our schools suck so bad that they can only turn out morons capable of menial labor? Well thats a whole nother problem brought on by the teachers union and there liberal ways of dealing with students.
And we already covered the math when it comes to the number of immigrants allowed on a weekly basis.......it's way to many. What your proposing would equal the amount of illigals we currently have in approx five years. So why would this be a good idea in an already strained job market?
And your contention that we lack educated workers is totally false, what we lack are jobs for them.
And the idea that bringing in a group of students who historically under achieve and drop out a levels way higher then American students will help our problem with an under educated work force how?
Stop with the BS that we need immigrants of any kind until we put or own house in order.
