What do chocolate eggs and giant rabbits have to do with passover?

What do chocolate eggs and giant rabbits have to do with passover?

Nothing. Passach or Passover is a Jewish festival. Chocolate eggs and rabbits are pagan symbols. You need to understand the spread of Christianity in Europe in particular and how it melded itself with localised customs and pre-Christian religions to see how symbols of fertility were worked into the theology to make it acceptable to the natives.

13 correct - amazing how much I can remember. No, I didn't cheat.

The eggs and bunnies are all about pagan spring fertility rituals. When Christians began to infiltrate England, Ireland, Scotland, the rituals sort of intermingled.

Which is why many churches frown on the whole Easter Egg hunt thing. It's a left over from when people prayed to other gods, and as such really doesn't have much place in a Christian celebration.
