An ANSWER please?

Yet there is NOTHING in the plan to encourage businesses to stay here, and nothing to discourage them from going overseas. so basically it's a handout that our grandchildren get to pay for.

BACK TO THE ORIGINAL QUESTION: Can ANY liberal explain WHY we needed the most recently passed "bailout" bill? No attacks on posters, no attacks on George Bush. Why do we need to spend a trillion dollars and how will it fix things?

We already have universal healthcare, just a really, really bad version of it. Everyone can be treated in the emergency room. We don't let people bleed to death on the street here. Not yet, anyway. So the rich get great healthcare, and the poor get no healthcare until they are at death's door. Does that sound like a good way to run a society? No, it doesn't. The ironic thing is that every other Western democracy has a single payer system, and they pay HALF per capita what we pay for healthcare. Why? Because they don't have to pay liability lawyers, insurance companies, and Big Pharma. There are inherent cost savings with a single payer system. The Germans have had one since 1886!

With a single payer system you would still pick your doctor, and your doctor would still own his practice. There would just be one insurance company, and that would be the government.

We dont have an entitlement to health care and we never should have it. Health care, like any other industry, comes from the labor and sweat of the workers in that industry. No one is entitled to someone elses labor. That's what we call slavery

That is why government run health care always fails.

Back to the original answer....

Because we are losing 500,000 jobs a month.

That being said: How is the "bailout" going to restore those 500,000 jobs? No rhetoric, please. How do YOU think that the bailout will help us?

he can't answer without rhetoric.

I love the blue suede shoes, dude, but please don't answer for the lib. I only want to know how the trillion tax payer dollars are going to "bail out" our present difficulties.

Bush's deficits were not supported by increased revenues, nor increased taxes on those who could easily pay, Obama's plan places money into the American infrastructure in hopes of spurring spending and into the pockets of the average American. Worked before, should work again but will take time.

The Great Depression, to 1935

Summary

Except it is full of billions in pork that does no such thing. The Democrats ladened the bill with pay back for themselves and their cronies. And severely restricted who can receive money from the so called stimulus to their cronies.

36% of the bill is tax cuts which will put money in people's pockets.

I have 13 first time home buyers who will be buying this year. The $8,000 they receive will go right back into the economy for furniture, fixtures, repairs, etc....

Of course the real answer is if a Republican does it we will bitch about it.
If a Democrat does it we will cheer about it.

It's just that simple little thing they put in the liberal kool aid.

Yeah, nimrodimus always like to talk shit about retied military, but at least we EARN ours while he's all for unions ...

The dude's a whackjob.

Oh please, gunny do spare me.

You and both know that a significant majority of lifers weren't worth the coffee they sucked up during their skylarking careers.

Now if you'll reread my post you'll note that I suggested that we'd be SCREWING those people and I sarcastically noted that they'd get their reward in heaven, too.

But please don't expect me to pretend that I think every retire military out there was worth his salt, because pal, I was there, remember?

With the exception of CONGRESS, you military boys have the best retirement plan in the world and not 1 in ten military folks work half as hard as the vast majority of people in the civilian world.

I've certainly had to work with a lot of completely useless active duty people that have no hope of ever holding down serious civilian work. The vast majority of active duty people never see combat. Most never even make it into a war zone even in support.

Like any large corporation some are pretty good, some are worthless. Most are just normal working stiffs like everyone else. But we do make a contract with these people and they do put up with a lot of crap to get to that 20 year mark, mostly being nomads and never being allowed to put down roots anywhere.

Not anymore. Since the liberals redid it behind closed doors, it has less than 25% for tax cuts. It's also going to create 200 MORE government agencies.

This bill, which the liberals are RAMMING down America's throat, even though the majority of Americans think it's a bad idea, is probably the single most HORRID thing our government has EVER done. WE - ARE - FUCKED, and you can thank the LIBERALS for that.

Civil War II.

The largest losses have been in the financial sector, and then retail. So how is building roads going to give investment banking clerks, portfolio managers, analysts, etc... their jobs back?

That didn't answer anything. No incentives to put banking and investment specialists back to work. Lot of useless crap about helping "poor" who have no impact on the economy even in good times.

Again, the cause of the crisis is housing. And $8000 tax credit isn't going get many to buy a house when new credit guidelines are going to most from getting financing. $14 a month more in a paycheck isn't going to help anything.

The only job sector that will improve significantly is the civil service, because gov't just got a whole lot bigger.

This "stimulus" is going to have no immediate effect of any kind. The markets have already rejected it....as expected.

Gov't is POWERLESS to effect the economy. It always has been.
