C'mon, Big Guy - the government owns it because we need a National Railroad of the People and it's clear that government is far more streamlined, cost effective, efficient, and knowledgeable than private enterprise could ever be! Private ownership means Big Bad Business, greedy investors, special interests, corruption, and all that other stuff that never occurs in government. We owe it to our government to keep subsidizing every program they control so that our government will never run out of money - ever.
