Not only will there be no healing of the nation or coming together, there will almost certainly be an even greater effort to work against this president!

No matter how they acted the ultra-conservatives would be talking about there being no healing, because they WANT to keep picking at the wounds. For example, talking about snarkiness is a laugh. The right has been doing it since Day 1 of Obama's presidency.

One characteristic of conservatism is it's reluctance to change. That reluctance to change can become a problem as, like it or not the world keeps changing. Two American conservative parties have died already, the Federalists and the Whigs and America is now on its third conservative party. Their future is beginning to look as bleak as the Federalist and Whigs. The changes in America in the last 100 years are many and vast and the Republican party despite its efforts have been unable to stem the changes. What Republicans offered America in this election was white candidates, wealthy, and--I can't think of anything else at the moment. In any case conservatives might want to make a new party, and accept the idea that it too won't last forever and must be changed.

Congress will be forced by the fiscal cliff to make some tough decisions.
