Americans will NEVER accept socialism!

What's stopping you? Let's start with your gun rights. I can carry my Glock in my purse, please tell is about your concealed carry laws.

Nobody's ever taken me up on the offer.

We do not have conceal carry laws. It is illegal to do so. It is considered a privilege not a right to carry a gun down here (NZ). We have licenses that make sure you are not a looney tune and know how to operate a gun safely. Once I pass my license (I did with ease). I can own a shotgun or rifle (not a full auto).

My turn.
I can wear a t-shirt that says my Prime Minister sucks to a rally he his holding and I won't be told to leave, nor will the Diplomatic Protection Squad tell me to leave.

Nice try. That was a limited occurrence that to the best of my knowledge has not been repeated since and hopefully won't be repeated again. If it is we'll do something about it, just like we did last time, they didn't like the negative publicity, either side.
Obviously your concept of "freedom" and my concept of freedom are two different things. You don't mind relinquishing certain freedoms to have more security, you don't have the same constitution that we have (as mangled as it has been in the pursuit of security, national and economic.). So I guess on a technical level you can compare and contrast but honestly have no vested interest our government or political processes.

My Father and his Father fought against socialism, communism, facism and a few other ism's and their sons and sons, sons and daughters generations are more than likely to embrace the exact things my Father and his Father fought against. I think it's a perverted sense of greed, a liberal education infestation and a complete lack of historical perspective.

America is arguably the only global super power. Damn near every country in the world has a vested interest in our government and political processes.

After this health care debate.

I remembered a comment from someone from the U.K. that said this about us decades ago.

Americans will never accept socialism--if they know what it is--& or they see it coming. "It will take an "economic crisis" with Americans not looking.

According to the author of the above quote--we as Americans value our FREEDOM--over health care, over taxes--over defictis--& our own lives.

It's an inherit trait in every American.

We value FREEDOM above all else.

Let's never forget who we are! :clap2:

So Americans will never accept socialism? You mean like Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid. There is a good way to find out. Try to take them away...

At the end of the day it did happen though. It happened down here (a person wearing such a shirt to a political rally) and the person was allowed to stay. Limited or no, it happened.

I have the same freedoms as you, if not more IMO...different folks for different strokes. I don't call screening people to see if they are loons to stop them having a gun is a bad thing. Just because you have the 2nd in your constitution doesn't mean you have more freedom, it just means you have something in your constitution (big deal)....

I absolutely have a vested interest in your govt and politics. Both have a knock on affect to the rest of the world.

Uhh--no comments from the left yet?

What's to comment on, exactly?

The man expressed his opinion.

You can agree with it, or not.

I suspect that most Americans will accept HC if it is offered them.

I note that I have never met a single libertarian who didn't cash his social security checks when they started rolling in.

Isn't this similiar to that?

Americans have always enjoyed socialism

You send your children to schools run by the government
Your police and fire protection are run by the government
The roads you drive on are provided by the government
Social Security, Medicare are provided by the government

I wonder what would have happened if our founding fathers felt the way you do.

1) They're your founding fathers not mine.
2) As I said, freedom is over rated, it is but one aspect of existence.

I'm sorry, I didn't know you were not an American Citizen.

I'd rather starve a free penniless pauper then dine lavishly at a table as a slave. I guess I treasure freedom more than you.

You would? Really? Or is that just a little bit of hyperbole? You'd prefer to starve than eat?

The point about the definition of "freedom" is well made and should be borne in mind more often. It really is context-dependent. But Americans have given up freedoms for security as well, understandably.

I doubt you're right in any single point in that post.

I disagree , people like free shit from the government , more than freedom.

They like the idea they are hurting people who have made them socially disadvantaged and free money.
They have learned for generation America and freedom are enemies of the people.
The American people want social justice ,death to America , free Palistein and Death to Israel.

First of all nobody is suggesting the US become a socialistic nation.
Obviously people that say such things do not know the meanings of the word socialism.

Secondly the US has long provided socialistic like assistance to large corporations. ( small business does not get in on that socialistic corporate money) But we pay for pipelines, roads, ports , utilities and forgive corporate taxes and loans all in the name of them getting out and doing business and hopefully creating American jobs.

So it boils down to this people claiming the US is going socialistic, haven't got a clue what they are talking about. They are buying into talking points from places like Fox news. And thereby buying into exactly what corporate America wants them to so big companies can keep right on raping the American tax payer and our natural resources.

A bit of a hyperbole, a teeny weeny bit of a hyperbole.

That's true, but there are plenty of AINOs (Americans in Name Only) and more are created each day. Eventually, true freedom lovers will be outnumbered and they'll have to leave to start a new 'America'.

Government spending accounts for about a third of the economy. It accounts for nearly half of all healthcare spending.

So it appears that America has already accepted socialism to some extent.
