Americans support the Presidents handling of Egypt crisis by 2:1 margin

BECAUSE THEY ARE IGNORANT!

WTF did Obama do?

Mostly....he kept himself and the United States out of Egypt's issue. Which is precisely what he should have done. Great job on this one, Obama!

Sending an envoy is keeping out of it?

Clinton making statement after statement about it is keeping out of it?

Obama saying that Murbarak should resign is keeping out of it?

We had three different messages from three different official sources. Not only did we not stay out of it.... we looked like a bunch of fucking amateurs. That may be acceptable to the Obamanation, but to the rest of us.... not so much.

Yes, our leaders talking about it, while not sending in troops, or bombing the shit out of Egypt, etc, etc, is staying out of it. Egypt's problems are not ours. We can't even afford to fix our problems, much less anyone else's. Obama handled this properly.

It was never going to be a 'boots on the ground' scenario. Anyone who thinks that Obama did well because he didn't send troops in clearly knows jack shit about international relations.

The fact that we had several different messages from our government, along side that total fuck up with our envoy... made us look incompetent to the rest of the world.

Poll: Obama gets high marks for handling of Egypt crisis - USATODAY.com

Those surveyed give President Obama high marks for his handling of the unfolding situation. By more than 2 to 1, 66%-28%, they credit him with doing a good or very good job.

"It offers an opportunity as well as a challenge," Obama told reporters at a news conference Tuesday. "I think the opportunity is that, when you have the kinds of young people who were in Tahrir Square, feeling that they have hope and they have opportunity, then they're less likely to channel all their frustrations into anti-Israeli sentiment
And this is despite the rightwingloons best efforts to make Obama out to be a doofus.

:clap2:

He is a doofus, without any help from rightwing loons.

If he wasn't a doofus, he would have had one coherent message. He did not. He made his Administration look incompetent on the world stage. He's an embarrassment.

To you, prolly.

It is a tricky thing to balance condemning an ally or supporting a people's quest for democracy. There really wasn't anything else he could have done.

Here is how the far right reacts to good foreign policy.

I think they prefered the lying us into war style better.

The war was to spread democracy throughout the Middle East. THAT is what the pro-war Right told us.

THAT is what they thought was worth tens of thousands of Americans getting killed and wounded for.

...until it happens,

then, suddenly, eh...not so good.

Yeah, right...First it depends on who commissioned the poll. Then one must read and understand the questions with a bit of skepticism.
At this point, if one does not understand that polls taken are ALL subject to creating a pre-determined result, they are not being realsitic. As such, we must view polls with healthy skepticism.
IMO, polls are for the edification of the uninformed and the intellectually vapid.

Stay-Go-Stay-Go-Stay-Go. Yes, Obama had Every Angle covered.

I watched a political show on the BBC and one of the commentators said very much the same thing, with words like 'incoherent' 'gibberish' and 'incompetent' being used to sum up the American policy. It was damned embarrassing. They showed clips of Obama saying one thing, Clinton saying something completely different and that whole fiasco about Wisner going over was torn to shreds.

It's all propaganda. You know USA Today would not commission a poll unless they knew the answer or asked the questions in a certain way in order to get the results they wanted. The poll says "by 32 % of people polled say the events will increase chances of enduring peace 22% say it will decrease the chances for enduring peace and 28% say it won't make a difference". Using the same results you could just as easily say 50% of people polled say that the events will decrease the chances of peace or won't make a difference. See the difference?

And?...

Didn't you say you were a Reagan Republican?...

:)

peace...

Hard to know what 'ol righty thinks he's proving by citing this. Is he naive enough to believe that because a bunch of people approve of the actions, they approve of the man himself?

Or perhaps there some reasonably intelligent American's who can seperate a dislike for the man's general politics with making one right decision. Obama basically did nothing but talk about Egypt and really only did that because we all expect him to at least say something about it. Do nothing, meaning not using our military to butt into other countries business is a position that coincides not only with liberals but the more libertarian members of the right.

So, since you are asserting that they hedged the poll, show us the hedging part of the questions asked.

IN this case he did nothing.

Nothing turned out to be the right thing to do.
