American manufacturers are on a roll: Business conditions surged in August to a 14-year high, according to a a survey of industry executives.

The Institute for Supply Management said its manufacturing index jumped to a 14-year high of 61.3% last month from 58.1% in July. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch had forecast the index to total 57.9%.

Readings over 50% indicate more companies are expanding instead of shrinking.......The economy is firing on almost all cylinders.

Check out the last time the index was over 60? And boy oh boy...was there ever a huge BOOM after early 2011...not.

The index means little. It IS better to be up than down. But it means little towards the overall economy.
Plus, manufacturing is a very small portion of the overall American economy (about 19%). As it is in ALL advanced, modern economies.

I realize many/most Trumpbots long for the 'glory' days of the 1950's...but those days are gone forever. Automation will eventually take over most manufacturing...and I for one cannot wait for that day to arrive.
