American influence crumbling

When the leaders of the most powerful government in the world, which also happens to be the most democratic and the most peaceful, decide that it is no longer any of our business what the rest of the world..guess what? We cease to matter.

I wonder what the pacifists who insist we have no business moderating those countries that insist on violating the civil rights of their own people, who beg us for help against terrorists from other countries who slaughter their people, who want tyrannical despots deposed, will say when we let those guys just do their own thing, they gain more power, and turn en masse against us?

Will they say we deserve it?

LOL. Ask any Native American.

Fuckwad. My kids are American Indians. I lived with the tribe for years, my sister works for them.

Percentage-wise, they send more soldiers out to protect and establish freedom than any other ethnic group.

So you were saying? Believe me, they don't want America to become the least important republic in the world, and they have an abiding hatred for militant Muslims.

With Iraq, America needs to stay there for at least another 20 years if not longer...
We're still in Germany and Japan, so anyone who didn't expect that is a fool.

Different, Si. They aren't in a hostile situation in Germany. Haven't been in my lifetime and our forces were peacetime forces even when my dad was an MP in Wurtzburg (sp?)

you don't think they'll be able to extricate before that? I'd think they'll have no choice but to do so.

You've been there 6 years already. You need to build up at least one if not two generations of Iraqis that know what peace is, so that the old guard slowly die off, and peace becomes the norm. Dunno if you will ever get over the hatred of the three main groups though.

Look at Germany and Japan - you're still there after 65 years, and they were a lot easier to manage than this lot..

Technology changes things, Cost, Bank Roll, World opinion. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Too many critics with untried claims. Give them their shot on their dime. We can build bigger Carriers, and watch from afar.

Si agrees with you. I'm just not sure we can afford the expense of Iraq and Afghanistan like we could afford to maintain occupation forces in German during the post-WWII boom years.

Actually Grump, As I am sure you're aware? Japan was historically fanatic because of their Samurai roots. Germany only for around a decade or so under The Third Riech. I think as long as the money roles in from the Oil contracts in Iraq nobody on either Political side here at home will give a damn.

Course, You would be suprised at what McDonalds, Starbucks, Cable TV, Gangstar rap, Drugs, Alcohol, boob jobs, Internet Porn and American Idol (Iraqi Idol) can accomplish in a short time bro. ;) ~BH

Not THAT hostile..I think Germany had a group called the Werewolves, or somesuch, a remnant of the Nazis. But it was relatively peaceful.

Japan almost had its own American dictator in the form of MacArthur.......and he tried it a second time in Korea!

We were, we are , and we will continue to be the major influencing force in the world.

This will happen in spite of the mistakes of the last 20 years, and the major mistakes that are happening now and the next 3 years.

And the reason that we will continue to be the number one world power is that when the chips are down, we are still all Americans. I never saw our country as United as we were on 9-12-01. And though I don't like the reason for it I did love the unity.

I believe that when the shit hits the fan, we will still come back to that Unity. For it is only from within that we could ever fall.

No it wasn't, it was very violent. However, We wiped them all out in about a year and a half. Basically, we didn't fuck around with fantasies like International Law and just killed them all right where we found them. Trust me, I know. My Grandfather was there, and fighting against his own ancestry.

Mac wasn't a dictator, he stood up to the gutless, spineless Politicians just like the kind we have today on both sides. Those fucking Red Chinese killed alot of our Men in Korea after we saved their asses from Japan completely Conquering them. Mac was right, we should have invaded China and killed millions of the bastards for what they did. ~BH

The United States is not "the most peaceful" country in the world.

No nation in all history has ever had as much power as the US and used it less

s'matter, you feel like heckling tonight? poor baby...

but what's funny is that if someone with your limited brainpower is asked, you'll say that we can't afford to give medical care to our people (something done by every other civilized nation on earth) but you think all the money in the world can be spent blowing up people for no reason.

now THAT'S :cuckoo:

Have no fear - President Obama's limp-wristed diplomacy and effortless handling of the economy is sure usher in a new era of Americanism!!!!
