The real issue here should be why do women have to have chess contests separate from the men.?? The answer is women are mentally inferior - but we're not allowed to say that.

Iran Demands US Champion Wear Hijab At World Competition, LOOK How She Instantly Responds

feb 22 2017 One American champion is voicing her opposition to “women’s oppression” by boycotting the women’s world chess championship in Iran rather than bow to Iranian demands that she wear a hijab, or headscarf.

“By participating, I would be forced to submit to forms of oppression designed specifically for women,” Nazí Paikidze insisted. “It sets the wrong example, particularly for young girls interested in chess.”

Paikidze, the current U.S. chess champion, could be competing for up to $100,000 in prize money. However, she has refused to attend the event.
She should be kicked out then. We want assimilation here then assimilate in other countries while you are there

Human capital flight from Iran
According to the International Monetary Fund, the Islamic Republic of Iran had a substantial drain of highly educated individuals (15 percent) in the early 1990s.[1] More than 150,000 Iranians left the Islamic Republic every year in the early 1990s,[2] and an estimated 25% of all Iranians with post-secondary education then lived abroad in "developed countries" (according to the standards of the OECD).[1][3] A report by the International Monetary Fund in 2009 indicated that Iran tops the list of countries losing their academic elite, with an annual loss of 150,000 to 180,000 specialists. It is equivalent to a capital loss of $50 billion.[4][5][6] In addition, the political crackdown following the 2009 election protests is said to have created a "spreading refugee exodus" of elite Iranians.[7] It has also been reported that CIA is running a covert operation codenamed "Braindrain Project" with the aim of luring away Iran's nuclear talent, thus undermining Iran's nuclear program.[8]

Looks like a very oppressive atmosphere. I don't like it. CF boards were traditionally always the roll out chess board with the algebraic notation on the sides and bottom.

CHESS_SET2.jpg

Tournament style roll out board w/ alg. notation and Staunton Style chess pieces..

Where are the clocks? I don't see them. What's with the women on the left all dressed in blue and the coach in blue? The room is painted the same blue. Is that the Iranian chess team? If so, I've got a huge problem with that. Second problem is the boards. Are the guests playing on that team's boards? It looks to me like they are. It also looks like the Iranians were looking for a psychological advantage / intimidating the guests to their country. Very poor judgment on the part of the Chess Federation. VERY.

i think its friendly match
Prior to the tournament? I call it for what it is. An intimidation tactic. Who is the man behind the girls in blue? Their coach? Who is the woman at the head of the table with the Iranian flag to her right? I call it as I see it. Intimidation / trying to get a psychological advantage before the game. Let's face it, Dani. The world's best players have never come from Iran. Chess requires imagination and when you live in an oppressive country it is very difficult to see ahead because your mind is fixated on what is going to happen over yesterday. Which is why Iran is not a nation known for inventions of cars / or any other major modern invention I can think of. I feel sorry for the Iranian people. It must be awful to live there. I'm sure they studied very hard for (to win) this tournament as if their lives depended on it (it may have). Still, imagination is greater than knowledge. Einstein said so.

She was born and raised in NY (educated in the USA). You're making my case for me. Iran is not a nation where people can grow to their fullest potential and this is true in education as well as chess. You should do your homework next time.

What does that have to do with anything? She was born, raised and educate in New York. Not Iran. How many Nobel Peace Prizes do the Iranians have? How many do the Jews have?

Here is the answer:

Jews have won 22% of all Nobel Peace Prizes. 196 Nobel Peace Prizes won by Jews. Jews make up 0.02% of the world's population.

2 Iranians have won Nobel Peace Prizes. Iran population is equivalent to 1.08% of the total world population.

Iranians are not smarter than Jews.

That's still stupid. Neither Peace nor Literature prizes involve intelligence. Focus on the Science Nobels if you want to tell us who is smart.

Right you are, Rosie. Sorry about that. Nobel prizes, folks. 196 Jews won a Nobel Prize and 2 Iranians have won Nobel Prizes. There is a total of 0.02% Jewish people in the world. There is far larger percentage of Iranian people in the world. So how do the Jewish people defeat such odds? The Jewish people have the blessings of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob upon them! You can't miss it!

It's a committee of people. Not a Jewish vote. Have you always been so envious of the Jewish people and do you believe that the anti-Semitism of your leaders had something to do with it?
