American consumers tab for Trump's tarrifs reaches $42 billion

Trumps tariffs arent on the american consumer.
They are tariffs on chinese imports.
Prices might go up for the consumer but that isnt a tariff in the consumer.

I love it when a Trump supporter claims that tariffs are not taxes on Americans. It validates my take on how they came to elect him in the first place!
They arent taxes on Americans you big dumbfuck.

Stop lying. You can bash tariffs without lying.

Don't worry. It is OK to convince yourself that the Chinese didn't raise their prices to cover the tariffs. I understand.

How many times do I have to tell you "don't confuse them with facts"?

They are taxes on importers. There isn't a law that says you have to buy "Made in China". How cheap is your soul?

Also, the commies have devalued their currency and spent billions on these companies to prop them up and lowered prices to eat the tariffs.

Anyone who thinks paying a little more for some junk is more important than national security and your future, is completely missing the point.

Are you sure that China is the enemy of the day? It is hard to keep track of who Trump wants you to hate, between Mexico. Latin America, China, NATO, and Muslims, without a program...

uh-oh. .. . . Someone is at your door. . . .she found out you are buying cheap shit from overseas instead of buying locally sourced stuff. . .

Trump doesn't direct my hate of communists, that came from a lifetime of reading and learning of the horrors they've committed.

If Reagan were around today, you can bet China would be dragged by a leash. America has THEM by the balls, not the other way around. Stop giving them the ball, dunk it on them.

Chinese citizens deserve to be free and experience capitalism, not remain subjects of a cowardly system that has slaughtered too many million to count.

You may find this hard to believe, but I don't give a rat's ass about Chinese people one way or another, so I guess you will have to recruit volunteers in your holy war somewhere else. I am still trying to figure out why Vietnam is a most favored nation trading status.

TN, try to follow this. China offers to sell you a t-shirt for $10. Trump puts a 10% tariff on that T-shirt. Now, China offers you that T shirt for $11.00. You have to buy it, because there is no other t-shirt for sale that has the words, "I am a Trump following moron". Now, who pays the 10% tariff?

Trade war: New analysis updates staggering amount Americans pay for Trump's tariffs

...and meantime, Midwest farmers are still paying the price as well. How long will it take Trump's base to realize that tariffs are taxes on the American consumer?

42 billion? Wow. That is nothing. Cool.

I guess it is appropriate, then, that, so far, Trump has gotten no return for American consumers' $42 billion. Of course, that doesn't count the welfare he paid to Midwest farmers.

No, you don't have to pay it. If you are ethical, you use your dollars to make ethical decisions, for the planet, and your nation. It is the 21st century, you make and design whatever the hell you want and have Americans make it for you. Made in the USA T-shirts - Custom Tees Made in the USA

You don't have to buy a foreign product, you can buy one here. Fuck what ever the cost is.

I always go to Meijer, I know Walmart is cheaper, but Meijer supports the Union and doesn't screw over their suppliers or the planet just to get the cheaper price. They will also use a local grower when they can.

It is called voting with your dollars.

If you want a better nation and a better planet, the solution is simple, it starts with you. Stop being such a selfish prick.

Manufacturing jobs are up. Wages, even lower end wages are up. That is not "Nothing".

But yes, he should be far more aggressive. And not just with China.

You made a claim, of a lack of results. I responded, by pointing at some good economic numbers occurring during the time frame you are focused on.

Asking for proof of linkage, was not a serious reply from you.

Ok, I will tell you what has really happened. GM has stated that the tariffs have cost them $1 billion. Bankruptcies in the Midwest farm belt have not been this high since the Great Depression, and Trump has had to resort to socialism to bail them out. The country has lost tens of thousands of jobs that disappeared, because manufacturers have decided that it is cheaper to produce in countries with lower tariffs. Coal mining companies continue to collapse. There has been no new aluminum manufacturing in the country, and Trump has not succeeded in coming to terms with China on trade in over two years. Meanwhile, the cost to American consumers for everything from Coke in aluminum cans, to cars, have increased.

$42 Billion? Gee, that's less than $15 per person in the US. Why haven't I noticed? Should I start checking labels? Or just keep supporting China?

By all means, keep supporting China:

One can't help but wonder if Trump put a tariff on his own clothing made in China.

Your spin conflicts with the numbers on increased manufacturing jobs and increased WAGES for those jobs.
