Moore's latest film is proving a complete disaster for him...

____
His major themes are his status as the spokesman of the working class, the evils of capitalism, and the selfishness of (all other) Americans.

It would be easy to denounce Moore as a hypocrite. Many conservatives denounce him as a leftist, when in fact the serious left, the thinking left, generally finds him appalling. He is the latest in the modern breed of Limousine Leftists — individuals who, while personally they share the values of 19th century robber barons, find it flattering to adopt a thin veneer of leftism as a pose, in the same manner they pick a flattering hair style or gown. (A left-leaning critic of Moore summed up the situation very nicely: Moore’s appeal lies in his giving wealthy, over-educated, whites an opportunity to laugh at working-class whites.)

He lives in a million-dollar apartment, and boasts of that as well. “I walk among them. I live on the island of Manhattan, a three-mile-wide strip of land that is luxury home and corporate suite to America’s elite….. Those who run your life live in my neighborhood. I walk in the streets with them each day” (Michael Moore, Stupid White Men, p. 51). For vacations, he keeps another million-dollar beachfront house in Michigan.

“You would think that he’s the ultimate common man. But he’s money-obsessed,” said one associate.

He sends his child to a private school — no sense associating with the working class — and has some trouble associating with them himself. The New York Post reported on a tantrum he threw in London: “Then, on his second-to-last night, [Michael Moore] raged against everyone connected with the Roundhouse and complained that he was being paid a measly $750 a night. ‘He completely lost the plot,’ a member of the stage crew told the London Evening Standard. ‘He stormed around all day screaming at everyone, even the 5 pound-an-hour bar staff, telling them how we were all con men and useless. Then he went on stage and did it in public.’ At his last appearance, staffers refused to work or even open the theater’s doors.” NY Post, Jan. 8, 2003.

And I see the grossly obese socialist crawled over to Fox News tonight to try and drum up interest in his pile of crap movie.

Poor fat bastard...

Please don't compare Michael Moore to the so-called "robber barons" who, for the most part, provided unparalleled goods and services to the people of the U.S.

Michael Moore's purposefully controversial and politically polarizing documentary Capitalism: A Love Story was distributed by Overture Films and wound up in 7th place. It went wide into 962 theaters this weekend after opening on September 23rd in a limited release of 4 theaters. The pic about the financial crisis made $1.6M Friday and $2M Saturday (+33%) for a $4.8M weekend and $5.2M cume. Just for comparison purposes: Moore's most recent Sicko did $4.4 mil its opening weekend from only 441 theaters (and that was with him guesting on The Tonight Show and announcing he'd been subpoenaed by the Bush administration for the health care documentary). And his Fahrenheit 9/11 did $23.9M its opening weekend from 868 venues.) So, as much as the left loves Moore, and the right detests him, and he always uses the ensuing controversy to self-promote, the money angle is only what interests me. The fact is that Capitalism: A Love Story looks like its domestic total will fail to crack $20M and end up his worst performing film since his Oscar-winner Bowling For Columbine in 2002.

Yep, looks like a critic's winner, and a box office loser.

I guess the critics of Michael Moore's latest offering don't realize that he also takes on the Obama administration's bailout of the greedy capitalist bankers. It's just one more example of the uninformed wild-eyed right wingers whose knee-jerk reactions to anyone or anything that doesn't ooze a perceived sweet smell of uber conservatism must be evil. There's been a revitalization of extreme tunnel vision where logic and rational thought are not allowed. Pathetic.

What?? He criticized Obama?? He must be a racist.

Michael Moore (of whom I am not in awe) did a number on Sean last night on Sean's program. Moore did everything but slap Sean across the face, gut punch him, turn him around and bend him over and have his way with him. Did you Sean's face? He was like a four year old being scolded by his dad. Wow!

Moore did do a decent job - but he also ducked and jived big time - as he always does. His a master of spin.

As to some facts surrounding Moore than are in stark contradiction to his message...

According to Fortune Magazine, Moore’s films have grossed over $300 million worldwide. His highest grossing film was “Fahrenheit 9/11,” which critiques the Bush administration’s handling of the war in Iraq and earned over $200 million worldwide.

Moore reportedly was paid $21 million by Disney for producing, directing and creating the film.

Moore also earned 50 percent of the profits of his 2007 film “Sicko,” totaling $25 million plus DVD sales, according to Vanity Fair.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Moore would receive all of the profits made from DVD sales of “Sicko,” sales of which have been estimated at over $17 million.

And the after party for his premiere was a garish display of uppity Manhattanism...

The event, hosted by Esquire, doubled as the launch of the magazine’s “Ultimate Bachelor Pad,” a fully tricked-out, 11-room, nine-bathroom, 9,200-square-foot signature penthouse in SoHo, filled with flatscreens, sleek, modern furniture and luxury brands—each room meticulously designed around an advertisers’ theme. (The Hugo Boss bedroom! The Heineken lounge! The Lufthansa kitchen!)

As Esquire publisher Kevin O’Malley explains in the Esquire SoHo brochure, part of the reason that the magazine does this every year—alternating between New York and L.A.—is to meet its “advertisers’ growing need to create relevant and innovative new consumer touchpoints for their brands. Our affluent readers share a range of passions: a real desire for the best-of-class products and services that our advertisers represent.”

In other words, the pinnacle of capitalism. A fantasy in capital excess. A byproduct of the corporate greed Moore rails against in the film.

By the time Moore arrived, the party was in full swing, with revelers enjoying the 360-degree views of Lower Manhattan on the 3,000-square-foot terrace, top-shelf themed bars, sipping signature cocktails (there was a guy hired to blow dry ice on one pomegranate-and-melon-martini thing) and devouring skewers of filet mignon.

Esquire even hired models to strip down and slip into the obligatory hot tub.

Banking hasn't been capitalistic since 1913....Also, the left in general, and Michael Moore in particular, have next to nothing, if anything, to do with rational thought.

Next ridiculously flawed premise, anyone?

I don't care who or what he criticizes! The man is a hypocritical propagandist that uses lies and deception to mislead people. He is dishonest, plain and simple.

Hmmmm....... This site has the approval for the movie at 73%.

Capitalism: A Love Story Movie Reviews, Pictures - Rotten Tomatoes

big fucking deal....how many times has tomatoes given a movie a 30% rating only to see this movie hit over a hundred mil at the box office?........enough times to tell me ....they dont mean SHIT!..........

True - a poll of left-leaning film reviewers does not a sound movie make.

Moore's film sucks - even by his low standards.

He peaked with F-9-11 - that moment has passed and now his films are simply opportunities for a small minority of unhappy self-loathing libs to come out of their collective basements and greet each other before settling in for some good old anti-American drivel from the fat boy...

(Paying $8-10 per ticket for the privilege mind you)
