Well, it's because in the last 70 years, we took out all the Nazi leaders and hung their asses. We plaster the history books of pictures of what happened at the concentration camps. Displaying a swastika is a crime in Germany and considered in bad taste nearly everywhere else. When you have movies about world war II, the Nazis are ALWAYS the bad guys.

Imagine if we did that with the South? If we plastered the history books with pictures of how slaves were routinely tortured. If we hung Davis and Lee as the traitors they were. If Hollywood made movies about the horrors of slavery instead of shit like Gone with the Wind. If no one flew the stars and bars in polite company.

No one would talk about Uncle Beauregard who fought with General Lee.
