Amendment was for former slaves, not illegals - Washington Times

The Beginnings of a New Constitutional Amendment:

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8
days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.

Taking a quote out of context is only a problem when it CHANGES THE MEANING of the quote. As in:

“not of course include persons born in the United States who are foreigners. …” when the full quote says:

"This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons."

so that the quote actually says THE EXACT OPPOSITE with regard to the issue at hand.

Certainly all of the German 48ers who had fought for the Union were to expect that their children were natural born citizens after all

German-Americans in the Civil War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

furthermore "The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article." does not imply in any manner, shape of form that future legislators were free to actively interpret the meaning of the amendment to suit their desires, in direct violation of the principal of amendment construction.

And this supporter of activist construction serves on the Judiciary Committee. For shame, GOP :p

So if a family on vacation in the US downloads a kid here, that kid is a US citizen? The parents have no connection to the US but you wanna' make the kids citizens?

We're the only country on earth that allows that. It's time to rectify this.
