Over 2000 years ago people did not build with wood at high altitudes unlike in your modern photos. They built with stone.
The object slid down the mountain during a volcanic eruption. That part came to rest at 14000 feet. Trees do not typically grow above 13 to 14k feet.

Yup. Some of the wood is actually "petrified" while other parts left 1000 ft higher up are encased in ice.
