Genesis:

[1:21] "So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves"

And it happened 6000 years ago on a Thursday in October.

They have a really convincing argument:

It doesn't say sea monsters but I'm guessing that's why you only gave the reference and not the actual quote. Hoping someone wouldn't look it up and see what the scripture really says? I checked the two most used versions KJV and NIV and neither say sea monster so your either making it up or you have a crappy translation.

Oh, is it the 6,000 years that is the deal breaker for you? Well, fyi, most people who reject the dubious evolution theory do not ascribe to a 6,000 or 10,000 year old earth. But neither do we swallow that if you stare at a housefly long enough it will one day become a gorilla either.

FYI, what you believe and how you act is quite critical upon death. So i wouldn't be so cavalier about these days of leisure and passion.

So was Alister Crowley right or wrong when he received this message from a Spirit:

"Do as thou wilt"

Typical Cammmpbel post: Not really well thought out at all.

the hebrew word is הַתַּנִּינִם the taninim. The word tanin is translated in various places as sea serpent or sea monster or, I guess in some versions, whale.

Rashi points to it as a reference to it as "The great fish in the sea" and also calls forth the agadah quoted in the talmud this refers to the Leviathan and its mate.

I stand corrected. This is the version I was reading about and what I cut and pasted said exactly what was posted. I'm unable to find it now.

English Standard Version

1In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

3And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. 5God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

6And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. 8And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.

9And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. 10God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. 11And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so. 12The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.

14And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, 15and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. 16And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. 17And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.

20And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.” 21So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.

24And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. 25And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

26Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. 30And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Cammpbell, a whale has a throat the size of an orange. No where does the Bible call the fish that swallowed Jonah a whale.
On the other hand, there was a Japanese ship that's anchor was caught on something. They were finally able to pull the anchor up without the cable snapping and on the end of that anchor was the head of a decaying fish that was a third of the size of that very large vessel. The size of that fish's head was astounding.

Are you willing to bet your eternal life on the capability of a fish?

What's your point? Are you suggesting that whales aren't great sea creatures?

I'm already betting my eternal life that there is no eternal life. If you would bet your life on any of the fables and tales in the old testament.....or new for that matter, you should take a step back, take a deep breath, get really relaxed and think back to the first time some adult told you Jesus loves you. The brainwashing usually starts about the same time a child can first talk:

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep
I Pray The Lord My Soul To Keep
If I Should Die Before I Wake
I Pray The Lord My Soul To Take

Jesus Loves Me This I Know
For The Bible Tells Me So
Little Ones To Him Belong
They Are Weak But He Is Strong

Without the continuous brainwashing of each new generation by their parents or adult authority figures that foolishness would have died on the vine.

If there is screw him. Letting billions starve(mostly children) while the church has collected hundreds of billions of dollars worth of fine art, treasures, real property. I could have done a better job:

How would you like to be held accountable and responsible for what those who claim to be your friend do?

Matthew 19:21

"Jesus told him, "If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven"

Deuteronomy 18:13
"You shall be perfect with the LORD your God."

Matthew 5:48
"Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect"

James 2:14
"What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

Matthew 7:21
Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 19:24
"Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Matthew 6:34
"Therefore you shall not be concerned about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be concerned for itself. A day's own trouble is sufficient for it. ................................401K anyone??

Cammmmpbbell,
In the evenings the city would close it's gates to prevent being invaded. The walls had narrow slits to pass through, that were shaped like the eye of a needle. To get into the city, you had to remove the load your camel was carrying to get the camel through the narrow passageway. Then you had to go back out of the "eye" and carry your belongings in.
Riches can be cumbersome, but do not prevent a wealthy person from entering the city.

The man who cried Lord, Lord, understood the power of Christ and was able to emulate it like a magician. He was able to recreate some miracles. But He never got to know Jesus. So when He saw the alternative and cried Lord, Lord, Let me in, the Lord told the man He didn't know him.

I hope that's not what you hear when you realize the alternative, and cry, "Lord, Lord let me in, I didn't mean to blame you for what mankind did. I didn't realize how much you loved me."
