Lincoln, perhaps, was one of this country's finest Presidents. His major problem, in my eyes, was he was far to lax in dealing with the South. The aftermath of the civil war should have been a bloodbath. Every Rebel should have been hung..and their bodies put up along the sides of roads. Every mansion should have been burned to the ground. The fields of the south should have been salted. The major problem is that the punishment for that crime was not harsh enough. Because idiots still talk about secession and civil war today.

Why do you say that? There was no threat involved in the OP that I could see. IL simply quoted a man who assassinated a President and he gave no approval of the man or the statement. For all we know, he disapproves of the statement.

The fact is that the quote in the title of the thread makes one think about what many conservatives are saying about our current President. Although some of the issues we are dealing with today can clearly be attributed to President Obama, he has in fact inherited many other issues that he has attempted to deal with. Obviously, he has not solved the problems, but who could have?

And that is coming from a conservative who did not vote for President Obama and will not in 2012.
