Experts discover dark material is being constantly replenished and say: "Something must be doing that at a fairly prolific rate."Evidence of alien life is "unequivocal" on the comet carrying the Philae probe through space, two leading astronomers have said. The experts say the most likely explanation for certain features of the 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko comet, such as its organic-rich black crust, is the presence of living organisms beneath an icy surface. Rosetta, the European spacecraft orbiting the comet, is also said to have picked up strange "clusters" of organic material that resemble viral particles. But neither Rosetta nor its lander probe, Philae,...

Hmm, think I'll wait for a concensus before popping open the champagne. :)

I saw that on DAHBOO77's YouTube channel last night. While it's a FANTASTIC achievement to land a spaceship on a moving comet I don't think it's news that a Comet is made of ice or has ice in it is it?

Watch this video and see if you can find:
1. "Transformer" George Washington.
2. Kewpie "Gremlin" doll.
3. Richard Nixon.

I did not see articles debunking, rather articles stating that there were other explanations. However, whatever turns out to be the case, a fascinating discovery, and kudos the the ESA team. Time to plan a mission with more instrumentation.

It must be GLOBAL WARMING... there is a consensus of paid off GRANT scientists!

Why would you state such? Do you feel it is dumb to explore our universe or something?

Weird,,,

Think it's ultimately a dead end to do so. Can't get anywhere. And to come up with propulsion methods to do so requires a planetary effort. Not gonna see that until we mature into a species that doesn't wage war with its' own kind.

What's the point of looking for aliens when we smile-kill our own neighbors?

Would finding life outside Earth distroy your faith? It wouldn't mine but there are some very devout Christians who would stop believing in the Bible at that point. Since the Biblical Word is so much a key to their faith many would just refuse to believe it or lose their faith completely.

Rosetta's missing Philae probe found in dark crack on comet
September 5, 2016 - High-resolution cameras on the European Space Agency's (ESA) Rosetta spacecraft have found space probe Philae, which landed on a comet nearly two years ago only to lose power because its solar-driven batteries were in the shade.
Images taken from Rosetta at a distance of 2.7 km (1.7 miles) showed Philae wedged into a dark crack on Comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko, the ESA said on Monday. Philae landed on the comet in November 2014 in what was considered a remarkable feat of precision space travel but the metre-sized, 100 kg (220 lb) probe bounced several times before getting stuck against a cliff wall.

High-resolution cameras on Europe's Rosetta spacecraft have found space probe Philae, which successfully landed on a comet in a pinpoint operation only to lose power because its solar-driven batteries were in the shade.

Scientists could tell its approximate whereabouts on the comet thanks to radio ranging data but not its precise location. This year they gave up hope of restoring contact with the probe. While Philae did not have as much time as was hoped for experiments, information it has collected is reshaping thinking about comets and the project has helped in designing future missions.

Rosetta, along with its space probe Philae, was being used to carry out a detailed study of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko

"This wonderful news means that we now have the missing 'ground-truth' information needed to put Philae's three days of science into proper context, now that we know where that ground actually is," ESA's Rosetta project scientist, Matt Taylor, said in a statement. Scientists expect to get a final glimpse of Philae later this month, when Rosetta snaps some pictures during close fly-bys, before crash-landing on the comet itself on Sept. 30, ending its 12-year space odyssey.

Are you saying

A. Your God told you we are the only life in the universe?

B. That discovering life somewhere else would disprove God?

I think you mean A. I think finding life somewhere else proves your religion is made up because it said we were gods only invention.

That's good though because all religions based on a lie should go away.

I think Christianity would explain it away. They'd say, "hey, in the end God sent his only begotten son and that's all that really matters".

Never mind how ridiculous that story is.

Are you saying alien life on this comit would disprove God? If not, why would you say that?

Does your religion say there is no other life outside earth?

No evidence supports god as it is just faith. Science is based on evidence.

Get with it.
