1. "Last summer PBS talk-show host Tavis Smiley and author Cornel West embarked on an 18-city poverty tour to highlight the hardship of poor people.

3. "Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Census Bureau released last week a devastating statistic: nearly half of all Americans are living in poverty or near poverty.

4. One in two Americans is either in poverty or near poverty,” he said. “If you add three categories together, the perennially poor, the new poor and the near poor, you’re talking over 150 million Americans.”

So, what can we learn today, in, as our President say, ' a teachable moment'?

a. 83.6% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

b. The 'War on Poverty' and three years of Obamnomics seems to have made the situation worse, not better.

c. Liberals have neither the brains to come up with a new crisis, nor have ceased to believe that Americans are really, really dumb.

d. Usually, pumping up a crisis is designed to aid the Progressive candidate....so one might suspect that internal polls show Obama in deep, deep trouble.

e. And, most important take-away: statistics on poverty are, and have always been, bogus...and a tool of the every-increasing welfare state.

"Figures often beguile me, particularly when I have the arranging of them myself; in which case the remark attributed to Disraeli would often apply with justice and force: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics."
