ALEC is a naughty boy and really needs a spanking.

I wonder who was behind the drafting of the Obamacare bill. I'm guessing the OWS dude has zero idea.

I wonder when some Conservatives will start demanding that ALEC lose it's 501c3 tax status...

I wonder when some Liberals will start demanding that Media Matter lose its (spelled correctly) 501c3 tax status...

Um, that's kinda my point.

Neither of these groups should lose their 501c3 status, they're not violating the laws.

Yet there have been countless posts in the last few days by Conservatives demanding MMA lose their 501c3 status - and yet no outrage about the hundreds of Conservative 501c3s.

The group, formally known as the Hemlock society, Ezekiel Emanuel, among others.

Nonsense. They may have written various healthcare related bills, but the one that actually passed was written by the Insurance lobby.
Whatever you say, lib.

Was that supposed to sting?

The Hemlock society was a Right-to-Die organization in the 80s. Ezekiel Emmanuel had nothing to do with them.

Do you have any sources to back up your claims?

I never heard of these guys before.

I didn't look on every page of their website but do they say anywhere that their primary purpose is to write pro business "sample legislation" for clueless republican state legislators too lazy to come up with their own agenda?

This isn't something to be "outraged" about.

This is simply the way our system works now.

There are plenty of left-wing groups that do exactly the same thing. I've worked for a few of them.

I didn't say Ezekiel was part of the Hemlock Society. If you are unaware of his input regarding Obamacare, then I would imagine you did not follow the discussion without blinders.

Convicted criminal Robert Creamer:

David Axelrod described Creamer’s book as a “blueprint” for future progressive victories. In order to impose socialist healthcare on an unwilling nation, it is necessary, according to the book to

• Create a national consensus that health care is a right

• Create a national consensus that the health care system is in crisis

• Convince political leaders that they owe their elections to the groundswell of support for universal health care face peril if they fail to deliver on health care in 2009

• Need not agree in advance on the components of the plan, but foster a process that can ultimately yield consensus

• Focus especially on the mobilization of the labor movement and the faith community

• Generate emotion: fear, revulsion, anger, disgust

That may be but how many of them are as successful at actually getting things voted on and passed?

I'm aware of the nonsense conspiracies that people claimed were behind "Obamacare".

But they were all nonsense. Like this.

Once again, do you have any sources for your claims?

Well, that's the thing. It's not a transparent process.

We don't know how successful any of these groups are. I only know the successes that I personally worked on, or for organizations that did.

An organization that I worked for wrote NY State's minimum wage laws and living wage laws.

So what you are saying is that the collection of car dealers, ex-athletes, lawyers and preachers we elect to office can't write a bill on their own? Not surprising.
