DNR has been considering this for a couple of years now, and it appears they will elevate coyote to SoS later this year. The big advantage to SoS is that it will remove the restrictions on night hunting and baiting.

It is about time. I just hope it isn't too late.

Florida did it last year, but they are still struggling to slow the population growth. This is the biggest factor in Bama's decision to (possibly/probably) move forward later this year.

Is the carcass good for anything? Worth skinning maybe? The hides can be finished to look pretty nice.

Not really, though I have seen some recipes from the guys out West. I won't eat it though.

The hides are good for all kinds of obvious stuff. But they stink....badly. Have to wash and wash and wash and wash before tanning.

Roger that. We found a fresh kill when we lived in the country. Stepson skinned it and wife finished the hide. I remember her washing it about a dozen times with Borax. But she still has it and uses it for a chair throw.

Happy hunting.
