The first came from the guys that actually did the coding. Funny that.

This is from the "Internet hall of fame".

The group’s description of Gore states: “Al Gore, the 45th Vice President of the United States, was a key proponent of sponsoring legislation that funded the expansion of and greater public access to the Internet. Instrumental in helping to create the ‘Information Superhighway,’ Gore was one of the first government officials to recognize that the Internet’s impact could reach beyond academia to fuel educational and economic growth as well.”

So let's thank Al Gore, without whom we would not all be sitting here today, on the Internet.
Al Gore to Finally Receive Proper Credit for Inventing the Internet -- Daily Intel

Ah, but the 'Conservatives' cannot possibly admit that Al Gore has ever had a positive impact on the world and this nation. In their world of black and white, you are either a demon or a saint.

That's because they are to busy porking each other in gas station bathrooms..like our friend, Sniperfire.

they have backed themselves into a corner where they have to deny nearly all the facts in this world to defend the current republican party.

I jsut dont understand why they dont just bail.

The former Vice Presidents accomplisments not withstanding, you would be hard pressed to find anyone at DOD would might agree with the former VP on that little tidbit.

The Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET), was the world's first operational packet switching network and the core network of a set that came to compose the global Internet. The network was funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of the United States Department of Defense for use by its projects at universities and research laboratories in the US. The packet switching of the ARPANET was based on designs by Lawrence Roberts of the Lincoln Laboratory.

Don't confuse liberals with the facts. They won't hear anything that goes against the teachings of the Church of Al Gore.

A few years ago, while looking online for old Amiga computer info, I started searching AmiNet and found old Amiga Computing magazines that had been digitized. In one was an article on Gore's legislative efforts to expand the internet beyond academia and research.

This article was from 1990-1991.

Gore claimed credit for sponsoring the 1988 National High Performance Computer Act, and Co-sponsored the Information Infrastructer and Technology Act of 1992, which opened the Internet to commercial traffic. The organizers of the Webby Awards honored Al Gore with a lifetime achievement award in 2005, and Vint Cerf has stated " Al Gore is due some thanks and consideraton for his early contributions".

So Gore co-sponsoring legislation somehow means we wouldn't have the internet without him? What a crock of shit!

I first used a modem in 1979.

You certainly swallowed that one.

As usual, covering the truth with a nasty lie.

Like it or not, Al Gore has made some important contributions in the areas of internet progress AND climate change.

Okay, rw's, pull the blanket back up over your collective heads.

Good for Gore. Now if he will just stop being the worlds biggest fraud on climate change we can all clap.

Care to show major errors in Gore's presentation? All of the Scientific Societies, all of the National Academies of Science, and all the major Universities state that AGW is a fact, and a clear and present danger.

So, show us where, by present science, Al Gore is wrong. And an obese junkie on the radio is not an acceptable source for science.
