Akin is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Republican whacko-ism.

From Akin, we learn of the sperm-killing ability of the female anatomy in cases of rape. Never mind scientific fact - Akin knows better. But it doesn't stop there. Oh, no.

On matters of basic science and peer-reviewed knowledge, from evolution to climate change to elementary fiscal math, many Republicans in power cling to a level of ignorance that would get their ears boxed even in a medieval classroom. Congress incubates and insulates these knuckle-draggers.

Let’s take a quick tour of the crazies in the House. Their war on critical thinking explains a lot about why the United States is laughed at on the global stage, and why no real solutions to our problems emerge from that broken legislative body.

Global warming (does not exist), evolution (ditto) or a vaccine designed to prevent a virus linked to cervical cancer which, according to Michele Bachmann, could cause mental retardation because some woman had told her so - it doesn't matter. According to all too many Republicans, science is "poppycock ."

A Gallup poll in June found that 58 percent of Republicans believe God created humans in the present form just within the last 10,000 years — a wealth of anthropological evidence to the contrary.

The tragedy is that so many people in the forefront of the Republican Party subscribe to these nut case views.

I'd watch with the anti-vaccine junk science, some on the left of the aisle are true believers in that crap.

Then from the left we have idiots like frank, franken, obamaturd and biden. Point? Oh, you have none.

The difference here is, that the linked article in the OP cites facts (documented positions taken by the various people mentioned) whereas your little rant here involves nothing but generalized name calling, totally unsupported by anything specific, let alone a fact or two.

See the difference?

Then that would make them uninformed (to be charitable).

Betcha more on the Right buy into it than on the Left, however.

Don't forget the fundamentalist belief that the world is only 6,000 (approximately, of course) years old, and ALL that scientific evidence (like the fossil record and Carbon 14 dating) is sheer nonsense (or a liberal conspiracy, possibly meant to lead the faithful astray). That's why there was such a need to build the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY. where you can watch "children play and dinosaurs roam near Eden’s Rivers".

Lefties have no idea what facts are. Biden sticks his foot in his mouth all the time. Akins is just another politician. He is still better then what you have.

Careful with that word, "conspiracy" - wouldn't want this thread to be dumped into the Conspiracy Forum. :laugh2:

Do you really want to get into a right vs left whacko contest? Both sides have more than there fair share only a true partisan whacko believes one side is truly worse than the other.

Once again you miss the point. We are talking about views generally held by a great deal of Republicans here rather than some idiocy uttered by one or two individuals.

Try and keep up.

By any objective standard, the views of the Right on the issues raised in the OP are simply that - whacko. Care to defend that point? Care to provide three or four examples of Leftist views which you feel are comporable on the whacko-meter?

It's one thing to disagree on an issue that has legitimate arguments on both sides, such as abortion or the death penalty. It is quite another to espouse views that are based on patently incorrect assumptions.

The vaccine thing is more new-agy anti-science, which is more lefty. You can call out the right on some things, but the left is in on the vaccine thing too.

For disclosure I'm not sold on Global warming as something worse than normal climatic change. What I do oppose is the typical statist response to it, which is "give the government more control of our lives."

As for creationism, I dont see the harm in it. Beleving in a 10,000 year old earth doesnt make you a bad driver, a homicidal maniac, or a poor manager/politician/doctor/lawyer etc, so it really doesnt bother me.

These are not all politicians but they will do take special note of number three.

Your article, as you point out, applies to those various people mentioned... If you are extrapolating that to the entire right, then you are also generalizing...

Both sides have people who believe strange things... On the left there's Kucinich who believes in ET...

Hell, there are people on the left who still think Barry is doing a good job as President....lol

Yup.....but you're mostly talking about small fry.

Most of the left's wackos are the ones in charge. That way they can do the most damage.

The crazy dynamic that has developed on the right over Akin's position is that somehow,

banning all abortions including rape and incest cases is the extremist position,

but banning all abortions excluding rape and incest is not.

People, both positions are extremist. Let's not forget that. The latter is extremist; the former is outrageously extremist.

Then from the left we have idiots like frank, franken, obamaturd and biden. Point? Oh, you have none.

The worst is that this is all they have to offer.

We need real solutions to real problems they are just children who have no knowledge, no understand of difficult or involved education or knowledge. They will line up to vote for the one who knows the least because they feel comfortable, less threatened with those who know less than they do.

The r has no answers, no ideas, nothing to build on. All they have is name calling.

Let's just hope the grownups turn out to vote because the idiot R will take us all down with them and call it "progress".

If you are blind to the wakkos on your own side then you are by definition a partisan hack....
