This won't get rid of government mandates to molest and porno scan but maybe it is a start to get rid of TSA government workers....and might prevent Obama's attempt to form a new Government union...

In a climate of Internet campaigns to shun airport pat-downs and veteran pilots suing over their treatment by government screeners, some airports are considering another way to show dissatisfaction: Ditching TSA agents altogether.

Federal law allows airports to opt for screeners from the private sector instead. The push is being led by a powerful Florida congressman who's a longtime critic of the Transportation Security Administration and counts among his campaign contributors some of the companies who might take the TSA's place.

The Associated Press: Airports consider congressman's call to ditch TSA

An airport in Florida wants to kick out Transportation Security Administration staff and replace them with private contractors.

Orlando Sanford International Airport says the move would give it greater oversight over how security staff treat passengers.

"Privatization breeds competition," airport spokeswoman Diane Crews told AOL News. "It will create a more efficient operation, it will allow us greater oversight as an airport authority, and it will result in greater customer satisfaction."

Most airports are run by local taxing authorites. The pressure from those governments to keep those TSA union dirtbags will be immense.

You know that the TSA isn't unionized yet, right?

he spews and spews and spews but hasn't a clue about anything.

the world must be a terrible bleak and dark place for someone that ignorant.

He didn't spew anything. Why do you always kneejerk? You kneed a neurologist or what?

I highlighted that for you so the idiots onboard could read and hopefully comprehend that you knew they were not unionized yet.

So really.

What is the solution here?

We should have people that make $8.25, no benefits, guarding airports?

That's the solution?

I have had business in both the Washington County and Multnomah County courthouses over the last three years. Multnomah county uses sherrif's personell. Washington County uses rent a cops.

Washington County courthouse entry procedures are quick, courteous and no nonsense. no one gets in with nuthin. Lines move swiftly and everything is checked. There are scanners at both entrances.

Multnomah County has only one entrance with one scanner and six deputies standing around. The process is slow, there are all kinds of exceptions, and they just don't pay that good attention. I have seen all kinds of contraband in Multnomah County. None at all in Washington County.

I have not been to an airport in years. All I hear are horror stories. I can't help but extrapolate from my pre 9-11 experience, where the screening staff was courteous and efficient (It is worth noting the 911 guys did not have anything that would have been called contraband at the time) And contraband was stopped.

I think we would be better off with private cops. The TSA guys would do better if they realized they were not a monopoly. That they were replaceable. And if they don't behave, they will be replaced.

And it doesn't matter what the pay scale is, what matters is the level of performance. From all I have read, the TSA has a severe performance issue.

You're missing the point. Ask yourself this question: "If Muslims flew hijacked planes into the Twin Towers, then how is a TSA official putting his hand down your pants preventing the same thing from happening again"?

You silly fool. The TSA screening is adopted under the premise that it is a discretionary security protocol just to ease it's implementation. But if you try to actually prevent the TSA from doing whatever the fuck it wants you will quickly face the full force and power of the feds correcting you.

It isn't voluntary, it is mandatory. Grow up, hippy!

Airports aren't obligated to use the TSA.

Seventeen other airports, including Jackson Hole, Wyo,. and Rochester, N.Y., currently use private contractors.

Link to a story about private contractors in Rochester partially penetrating female pilots or touching their breasts.

no matter how much you want them to, they aren't putting their hands down your pants.

i know there's a discussion to be had here somewhere, but people lying about what the screening process is... isn't it.

No

We should unionize them, massively increase the cost of air travel, and make it impossible to fire TSA agents who abuse their authority by planting fake bags of cocaine on passengers.

How many times do I have to tell you the rules changed?

Grandma groped by TSA blasts 'invasive' body search | SeacoastOnline.com

The new rules apparently include a waistband search if you are wearing baggy clothing. Keep telling us they didn't do that the last time you went through the airport though. But next time, opt out of the scanner, and wear loose sweatpants, then come back and tell us they don't grope you, touch your breasts, or put their hands down your pants.

Because it's so much better to be groped by a private employee than a government employee.
