Airline Angels: Christian Diary (End of Sodom)

This is a consumerism-omen prayer-parable I've been meditating on for some time but didn't feel comfortably posting in the Writing section (given its political overtones regarding capitalism hygiene).

This vignette was inspired by The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio (and it's my final post on USMB).

"Alas, the Christian knight charged by a sacred English kingdom to quest for the Holy Grail which held the key to the dismantling of the evil archaic city of Sodom (a place of great gluttony and corruption), traveled through time and landed in 2010 Los Angeles where consumerism was peaking in capitalist America and the tourism industry was butting heads with anti-commercial terrorism (e.g., 9/11). Alas realized that Sodom lived in the 'heartbeat' of new age civilization and had to be rooted out in terms of commerce values. Alas also realized that Christianity had become a media-networked enterprise (e.g., EWTN)."

"Alas learned that the AntiChrist (the adversary of Jesus) was present on Earth and making wild films about the corruption of 'advanced civilization.' The AntiChrist was surrounded by intriguing women and daring and cunning men and had therefore created a 'dominion' of intrigue. The AntiChrist wanted to use media/commerce corruption to create a 'reign' of Sodom that would emerge even in this new age of consumerism. Alas realized that pop-culture images of subversive women such as the Kara Zor-El II (DC Comics), the dark-rendition of the heroic/valiant Supergirl, were 'anagrams' of pure carnality and deception and reflected the AntiChrist's reign of complete consumerism gluttony (i.e., cholesterol dishonesty)."

"Alas concluded that airline companies featuring well-uniformed and beautiful stewardesses could use the consumerism-based tourism industry to champion the virtues of hospitality in this new age (21st Century) of merchandising and travel. Airlines like KLM, British Airways, and Romanian Airlines could create a 'realm' of idealized grace and commercial amenities (e.g., in-flight music) to counter the dangerous trend of consumerism vanities (e.g., Playboy/pornography). Alas knew that such temperance and imagination would defeat the AntiChrist's intention to bring forth deadly forms of lust."

"Alas completed his campaign to use tourism/airlines to counter the AntiChrist's plan to turn capitalism into a cauldron of corruption. Finally, the AntiChrist surrendered and declared capitalism to be a potential source of inspiration for all kinds of etiquette and marketing rather than piracy or vandalism. Alas saw America suddenly becoming a pluralistic nation of fun merchandise and tourism/hospitality and female comic book heroines such as Supergirl and Storm serving as 'media diplomats' (or 'muses') of wondrous production fertilization. Consumerism seemed to be miraculously diorama-friendly, and Alas returned to his own time to continue his quest for the incredible Grail."
