That is debating on the merits. He said that I am just expousing liberal talking points, and I refuted him by stating how can I be spewing liberal talking points if I am complaining about liberals in the post? That is a refutation on the merits, and I decided to color it with the obvious.

Law enforcement and government help to prevent crime when they create an atmosphere that does not allow it...that's what people don't get these days.

You prevent crime by prosecuting former crime when it occurs. If you are soft on crime for years, you harbor crime by giving crimals the ability to get away with it. If you enforce our cime laws now, you prevent future crime by showing crimals that they will indeed be prosecuted and no liberal judges will give them a slap on the wrist. It's a deterring effect, and it works.

Air America filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy today. They vow to valiantly remain on the airwaves in case somebody accidentally tunes in, but I fear it’s only a matter of time before they hang up their microphones for good. It is truly a sad day for Free Speech in this country.

We should be pissed that our government and law enforcement is too inept to prevent crime nowadays. And we should be sad that scumbags like those on Air America exist in the first place :clap1:

Explain how liberal judges passing off light sentences on criminals has anything to do with this case? I fail to see how the government in any way could possibly be blammed in this case. Tough sentencing helps reduce crime through deterrance, but it will never prevent it. The only way our government could ever prevent crimes is by taking away all of our freedoms and become a police state. With freedom comes choice, and that means there will always be people that make amoral decisions. You don't sound too much like a conservative if you subscribe to the belief that the government is responsible for preventing such things. Conservatives place the blame on the people that commit the crimes, not the government or society. It all comes down to the core conservative belief that individuals need to take responsibility for their own actions. You should be applauding the government for even finding out this crime happened and did something about it.
