by War News Updates Editor @ War News Updates: Afghanistan Clerics Are Now Openly Supporting The Taliban

The occupation, they say, has actively encouraged a litany of personal and political ills in an effort to weaken the bedrock of society: Islam.

KABUL, Afghanistan — Mawlawi Ataullah Faizani took time out from teaching Islamic studies at a girls’ school in Kabul to explain why Afghans have a duty to resist the occupation of their country.

He quoted sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, spoke of foreign troops humiliating civilians, and ridiculed the corruption that runs through the heart of the government.

“This anarchy has been created by the West,” he told GlobalPost. “The West is never happy to let Muslims be united.”

Faizani’s views are common among members of the powerful religious establishment here. Clerics and scholars now openly sympathize with the Taliban and question much of what NATO claims to have achieved.

Comment: Cannot say that I am surprised by this development .... the vast majority of clerics in Afghanistan have always been very supportive of the Taliban, giving them the "moral" support for their rule before the 2001 invasion, and moral support in the past decade of conflict. What is surprising (and disturbing) about this development is that they are now openly stating it.

What's the sense of continuing to send our troops into harm's way in that God-foresaken nation? Their soldiers are killing ours, our leaders do not fully support them, and we've already given up by telling the Taliban to just sit around and wait until we leave.

not only do the people of Afhganistan support the taliban pigs-----so do the pakistanis The taliban pigs are the DARLINGS OF PAKISTAN For those who do not know----their agenda is the creation of a SHARIAH UTOPIA in Afghanistan----the kind of society in which ONLY MUSLIMS have rights and the rest of the people are subujugated to the filth of islam The good news is that most non muslims have left that hell hole and as a completely muslim nation it will remain an illiterate, diseased and violent pile of dung Nothing should be done by the US there other than leave. As to pakistan----the best answer is air life all non muslims out and replace that population with muslims from India

The Afghan people have always supported the Taliban, we were stupid to think otherwise. Alot of people here don't like Obama or the government, but that doesn't mean those same people would welcome the Russians if they invaded us.
