A text sent to a Newsweek reporter from a former Marine infantryman who served in Afghanistan (and requested anonymity) said: "They lied. For years, they lied. Even as more and more of us died. They lied. And lied. And lied."

Afghan War report enrages veterans and Gold Star families: "Even as more of us died, they lied"

Across social media, U.S. military veterans of the war were outraged over what the Post had found and upon publication, a barrage of swift condemnations ensued directed at military commanders of past and present and the administrations of Presidents Bush, Obama and Trump.

This report ends it.

Just like the Pentagon Papers ended Vietnam

And in truth it's all of them. Bush Obama AND Trump

Just like Viet Nam.

I'm with you on this one.

We should end all the regime change wars that corrupt politicians got us into.

They lied to everyone but their military industrial complex overlords.

It is said that Afghans are born with a weapon in their hand and consider war the national sport.

They have been resisting invaders for centuries and know that history is on their side. ...

Nothing the Washington Post said is new. Myself and a slew or other normals on many different message boards said the same thing the day The Chimp and his Neocon cabal invaded Iraq. Back then, the Chimp, said it was to protect America's freedoms. From what, I don't know.

Invading, occupying, and destroying the infrastructure of an entire country looking for 1 man was idiotic. ... :cuckoo:

The odd thing was, he quickly left (and we knew that) but we stayed to invade, occupy and destroy.

Instead of invading an entire country looking for 1 man.

Our military has the ability to insert elite soldiers by air and cordon off a several square mile grid that intelligence said he might be hiding. Then throughly sweep the area, and he isn't found, try again at a later date.

That way the U.S. wouldn't have wasted almost a trillion dollars, sacrificed the lives of thousands of soldiers, and spent nearly two decades looking like a dog chasing its own tail. ... :cuckoo:

It never was about one man.

What is so obvious and stupid is that the Military Industrial Complex keeps starting these stupid, senseless, expensive, and unwinnable wars for profits, and we keep cheering.
There was Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, etc.
Since none of these countries were a threat to us in any way, clearly it was really dumb to waste lives and money there.

Glad to see libs won't be complaining about ME troop withdrawals in the future.

They never did. Blindly partisan Dems did.

We didn't start Korea or Vietnam....
