Now that Obama is President is there a need for this anymore? Is there a need for Jesse Jackson? It seems like Jesse's argument is now debunked...

Affirmative action needed still? Yes you still have a lot of discrimination pigs floating about.

If you are honestly asking this question, you have no real idea of what affirmative action is or why it was originally put into place.

Corporations understand there is still a need.

All the signatories serve as leaders of their companies and have committed to implementing the following pledge within their workplaces.

The persistent inequities across our country underscore our urgent, national need to address and alleviate racial, ethnic and other tensions and to promote diversity within our communities. As leaders of some of America’s largest corporations, we manage thousands of employees and play a critical role in ensuring that inclusion is core to our workplace culture and that our businesses are representative of the communities we serve. Moreover, we know that diversity is good for the economy; it improves corporate performance, drives growth and enhances employee engagement.

Simply put, organizations with diverse teams perform better.

The Pledge

pure bullshit
blacks graduate at lower levels = not qualified
the MAJOR problems are ---------------------------blacks!
NOT police
NOT whites
definitely NOT white supremacists/nazis/racists/etc

.....graduate at lower levels--commit crime at much higher levels = blacks are the problem and blacks need to fix themselves
commit crime at higher levels/graduate at lower levels = undeniably a problem
..affirmative action is not going to fix the problems they create themselves

sure, they've been ''held back''-- but AA is not the way to correct it

Title 42, Chapter 21 of the U.S. Code prohibits discrimination against persons based on age, disability, gender, race, national origin, and religion (among other things) in a number of settings - including education, employment, public accommodations, federal services, and more. Chapter 21 is where a number of federal acts related to civil rights have been codified - including the Civil Rights Act of 1866, Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act.
