Advice needed on my emailing news articles to family.

When Barack Obama was elected I slowly began to send my friends and family links to articles that I was sure they were not getting in their regular media. Mostly stuff that you see linked to from the Drudge Report or Breitbart or in some cases stuff I found on FreeRepublic.

Well my family isn't a real open group. My father is totally with me and believes what I believe but my three sisters are pretty liberal. One married a Muslim guy from Africa and they have two kids. She met him in the PeaceCorps.

So lots of the daily topics in the news the last two years have been about the Saul Alinsky take over of the Democratic Party. The nefarious real views of the socialist. You know the drill.

So I email these to my who email list. I get responces from some folks. Most just ignore it. Which is cool because I figure maybe a slow leaking in process is going on.

However I have gotten the strongest responces from my sisters. Two have asked for me to stop emailing things to them. I have asked them to email me anything they want and I would read it. I have asked for a discussion but they won't even defend their beliefs or try to show me where I am going wrong. I think this is a cop out. I think with the major issues at war in America today that we don't have the luxury of blowing each other off. Any how if you can't discuss stuff with family and friends who can you talk with?

What would you do. Stop sending them articles and give up on trying to start a dialogue?

They are all three college graduates and pretty darn smart. Maybe that is where it went wrong for them? They have been propagandized in school and are now immune to logic?

Your sources are as biased as theirs are. Why should they accept yours over others? My advice would be to stop emailing articles and discuss the issues with them.

And, just in case you think I'm saying that cuz I'm a liberal.... you could not be further from the facts... I'm very, very right wing.

You know, I hate it when people like you trash up my inbox with the latest partisan doom and gloom......like my father-in-law. I have a quick delete finger. Do everyone a favor, quit sending political stuff and just say howdy instead.

If you e-mailed me shit about Owe Bama, I'd remove you from my Christmas list. Maybe this is how your sister feel.

So no one sees a benefit to trying to send article links? Like about the Climategate stuff, when no one was reporting on it? Or Van Jones when no one was reporting on it? Or the way the Healthcare bill was passed?

No one feels the need to send article links?

No one feels the need to at least try to talk with family?

Then why is anyone on this board? Just to talk with like minded people? How is this ever going to help America? How to we influence anything if we won't even have the courage to make people uncomfortable?

Is there anything in life worth trying to spread the message on?

Or is everyone an Island?

I hate this stuff even when I agree with it.

Family is more important than politics (unless the family person is a real over the edge loon, who you don't want to talk to for other reasons as well)

I would stop this yesterday, apologize for it, never do it again, and mend fences with the family. Do this postal mail with an "im sorry" from Hallmark. Otherwise they won't get it.

Even though I think you are on the side of the angels, it is a wrong thing to do to the family.

Everyone is here because they choose to be. You can discuss the issues that interest you and them. Sending political emails unsolicited is a good way to royally annoy people. Like I said, I hit the delete key when I get them. Yet I'm here everyday. Get it?

We are not fighting. I do not want to give this impression. We see each other maybe once a month and I don't bring any topics up about politics. This has been the way it is in our family since I was a kid. We never talk about anything we actually care about. Everyone usually gets too hostile in person.

Just today I told her I won't send her anything else if she reads "Rules for Radicals". I have offered to read anything they want to send me.

I don't think anyone can understand why the country is the way it is today without reading this book.

Why are you trying to push a wet noodle?

If your sisters do not want to receive political stuff from you...don't send any. Just stop and tell them every now and then that you love them despite their stupidity.

My advise would be to stop emailing the articles AND stop discussing the issues with them entirely.

Do you think that you can change their mind with what you have to tell them?

And if you are able to change their mind on the issues, in what way does that benefit you or the country (unless they are in Congress)?

I would suggest that you just remain civil and non-political with your family members if you want to retain them as family members.

I can't stand people who are so all consumed by politics, that they cannot live normal lives.
